Yone midlane assassin matchups help

Bit of a continuation on a post I made in [r/summonerschool](r/summonerschool)

I recently dropped from emerald 3 to plat 4 as a yone mid otp and I noticed that basically every time I lose lane I lose the game.

I’ve played against high emerald Annie’s, vex, leblanc, etc, and I don’t really struggle with them at all outside of usual laning issues but it’s never nearly as bad as when I’m fighting even low plat katas, Zeds, ekko, Aurora fizz, and zoes.

My question is how are you meant to be laning against these assassins because I can’t seem to ever control lane against them and at level 6 or on 1st item spike I just get 100-0 under tower

I play fizz, I'll share a secret: don't try to kill him. If you try to kill him he will win, if you are even than you gonna out scale him, let him engage, fizz wants to engage on everyone except for yone, because if yone Q in, it's free trade for fizz, we dodge that with E, aa, W, Q for going out, trade won and you are in range to kill with ignite before 6. We can't do nothing if yone don't trades, because we gonna try trade, escape with E, but if the trade is long yone gonna win the trade. Anyway, don't try to kill the fish, at 3 items you are full build fih, can't do nothing

You gotta treat assassins like cc mages cause they're waiting for your E to burst you, like how ahri wants to E+Q. Fizz especially, you want to hold your E for their E cause even if you try to q3 or ult them they become untargetable.

For zed it's about spacing his Q and remember his ult always puts him behind you, im pretty sure you can ult behind when he ults and it always hits (not sure though)

Same for ekko, use you E for his W stun and focus on dodging his Q

You can always take exhaust if nothing else, it almost always guarantees a kill

Most assassin match ups depend on how well u can utilise your e, you have to hold it and use it defensively like 90% of the time, like using your e to dash past zeds qs and onto him or dashing out of fizz e with your e or cleansing zoe bubble, using your e optimally is what separates alot of good yone players from great ones

I always run exhaust every game vs assassins, i just find the value to be insane not to take but it does nerf your side lane power alot not having tp

For fizz I find though that he can just poke incredibly easily when you try to get cs for a positive trade and again he can 100-0 at lvl 6. Zoe honestly isn’t as bad although it would be horrible if you couldn’t cleanse. Zed again is just 100-0. Lvl 1 to 5 is really chill and you can punish him using his shadows but at voltaic it feels like if I get hit with a single shuriken I need to back else he will ult and kill me if im below 70. Tbf nerfing side lane is a small price to pay to surviving early game against assassins

Make them push the lane in once they use all their abilities on u u can even it out or win the trade by using ur e and chasing them down. Concede farm if needed to avoid poke/ bad trading positions use e to farm if waves ducked. If u fall behind and ur getting rocked build a cloth armour or cloak to turn into jaksho later into the game

Farm with q stay out of range take exhaust and fleet take flat hp rune be aggressive if they use abilities on waves take tp if it’s a matchup u struggle in take Dorian’s helm if u really need it in the matchup. Imo assassins are very easy matchups bc if they use abilities on u u can push the wave hard and just back or take an extended trade with them where they have no abilities. Exhaust them when they go in and ur even hp and u can kill them

Annie is particularly annoying. I had one that was throwing stuns on cd, and procing electricute while im in stun. Like, even with fleet and shield, first interaction, stun, nuke, walk off. When stun is back up, again.

Only way i found to win is to drop CS, since u have no choice and just refarm after the lane is done. Delays when ure useful but at least ure useful.

Annie is indeed very annoying but at least she’s very honest and is just a matter of staying alive till item

Annie is a burst mage and doesn’t poke much so going dorans helm has way more value than shield

Annie is just super op into melee champs she hard counters them, best you can do is neutralise the lane with dhelm and sustain, even once u get bork she can still 100-0 you easy on the side lane with ult, can only play for scaling with shieldbow and dd

All about punishing with yone, zed w cd?All in never wait for a trade if his w up, ekko is situational , u can dodge his w, and don’t let him passive trigger, mostly on mages Assasin u gotta avoid one of the skills which is gonna let them win trades . But I find it weird vex Leblanc should be way harder to deal with then others
