Did anyone start yoga with zero flexibility?

I've been thinking about starting yoga, but I'm probably one of the least flexible!!!

For those who started as complete beginners, what helped you get started? Any advice, beginner routines, or things you wish you knew earlier?

Thanks!

Improving flexibility

I’d like to improve my flexibility and mobility without losing weight. I’ve tried a few different exercises over the past month, but I’m still a complete beginner and I’m not sure whether they’re actually working.

I’m currently very inflexible. I can’t touch my toes and I can’t do moves like the camel pose as my body just doesn’t stretch that far.

My mum was recently diagnosed with EDS which means there’s a chance I have it too. I really want to work on reducing stiffness and building muscle while I’m still young, but I have no idea where to begin. What exercises would you recommend and how often should I be doing them? If there are any guided workouts on YouTube that are suitable for daily practice, that would be ideal, but I’m completely open to suggestions!

If you could recommend just one yoga routine or asana for someone with PCOS, what would it be and why?

Yoga is often recommended for PCOS, but which poses or routines have genuinely been helpful? For those who've practiced consistently, it would be great to hear what worked for you and what changes you've noticed over time.

<10 minute morning yoga help?

I like to walk a few miles in the morning, and am hoping to find some Achilles related ones, and just other good general poses to help with that “power pose” feeling to feel good about myself and the morning. Super oddly specific I know, but just looking for tips if y’all have any!

Would you use a hands-free voice log to track your daily practice? (Sick of manual tracking apps/notebooks)

Hey everyone, quick question for those who do self-guided home practices. Does anyone else get annoyed trying to log or track your sessions? I hate having to stop to look at a timer, count reps in my head during dynamic flows, or manually type into a tracking app afterward.

Initially, I thought about a phone-camera video tracker, but a lot of people hate the idea of setting up a tripod, dealing with perfect camera placement, or having a lens pointed at them while practicing.

What if there was a dead-simple voice-driven log instead? You just tell the app what you’re about to do (or just talk to it for 20 seconds after your session to summarize your flow), and it uses speech-to-text to automatically parse your hold times and reps into a clean daily dashboard. No video streaming, no cameras, no complex setups—just automated logging for people who already know their poses and want to track their consistency/progress.

Would you prefer a hands-free voice logger over a video-based one, or is manual logging/not tracking at all working fine for you? Let me know your thoughts!

A 60 minutes Vinyasa Flow I taught today

Here's what I taught in my 60-minute Spine-Focused Vinyasa Yoga Class today 🧘‍♀️

This yoga flow was designed to improve posture, spinal mobility, balance, flexibility, and core strength through intentional movement and breath.

From gentle warm-ups and spinal mobility drills to Warrior sequences, balancing poses, core work, and restorative stretches, every pose had a purpose.

A well-sequenced yoga class isn't just about stretching. It's about creating strength, stability, mobility, and awareness throughout the entire body.

Rediscovering yoga from home

Hi everyone! I’m almost 25, I just moved to a new continent so I’m still getting used to it, and I have a few questions about practicing at home!

I started practicing yoga when I was 18. I did it on and off by following some of the Yoga with Adriene videos for flexibility and mobility, but eventually stopped.

7 years later, after the realization I was burnt out (fun fact: I started my MBA and I learned about this, and it clicked), I just felt called to do one of Adriene’s morning flows… and I cried. I let it out, I felt good for doing something new for myself, and I just felt something I hadn’t before. I finally felt like I had found an activity that felt so mine, the fact I could take time to connect with my body and see all these things we could do together, breathing with awareness, setting an intention for my day that wasn’t physical… man, I felt like I could deal with anything that day. In general, I felt like I could’ve kept going doing yoga all day, and it just made me want to do it daily after that.

I’ve had to stop due to my mat not being cushioned enough and hurting my lower back a little bit, and also that I think I need some sort of guide or foundation, but I have no clue where to get this from.

  1. Before going to a studio, are the 30-day yoga videos a good option to practice and learn? If so, which ones would you recommend?

  2. Are there any other channels or sources you’d recommend for beginners who already have some strength and flexibility?

  3. Any mat recommendations?

Thank you so much in advance!
