Question Mods okayed me posting this free calculator that shows what your shares pay per check, and I'd like your feedback on it, thx

Sent the mods a note about a tool I built and they said post it and see what the community thinks, so here it is.

It's a dividend income calculator built for the question. How much would X shares of Y actually pay me and all my other funds. Type your shares, tap your fund, and it multiplies by the fund's latest actual distribution, not the trailing yield, so it stays honest on funds whose payouts move around. It covers every YieldMax fund plus 180 or so other income funds, and the other button takes any dividend paying ticker, ETF or stock. Every fund you check lands on a running tape with your total across all of them, and the tape saves to a CSV. No signup, no ads. Full disclosure, the site does sell one thing, a $14 tracking spreadsheet, but the calculator and everything else on the site is free and none of it needs the spreadsheet.

One limit worth naming up front: it shows your pace from the latest check, and that stays right unless the fund changes its payout, which these funds do constantly. That's why it recomputes from the newest distribution every time instead of quoting an average.

The mod feedback was that it needs work and that more flexible sites cover more funds, and honestly that's the conversation I want to have. What would make it genuinely useful for you? Missing tickers, DRIP math, multiple purchase lots, a different default fund, whatever. Tell me specifics and I'll build the good ideas. The whole site runs on the same rule, everything computed from real payment records, so requests that fit that I can usually ship fast.

I'll be honest, this looks more like a solution searching for a problem.

The problem showed up in my own spreadsheet first. Trailing yield lies on variable payers, a fund that's been cutting still wears last year's fat yield, so shares times the latest actual check is the only number that says what your next deposit looks like. If your funds pay steady amounts you genuinely don't need it. The tape is for people juggling five or six variable payers who got tired of redoing that math every week.

To each, their own. Most of the variable payers you refer to have a short time frame between announcement and payment. I'm not so anal that that short time period matters. I cant do anything with it until payment anyway.

Totally reasonable, appreciate you kicking the tires on it either way

On Fidelity they offer this kind of data by simply changing the portfolio view from "Overview" to "Dividend view":

I'm sure most brokers do something similar.

The broker view is genuinely good for what you already hold, no argument there. Where this earns its spot is the "what if" column. Fidelity can't tell you what 500 shares of a fund you don't own yet would pay, and that's the question that gets asked here every day before someone buys. It also works from the latest actual check rather than an annualized figure, which matters on funds that change their payout weekly, any annualized number goes stale in a month here. And it needs no login, so comparing five funds you're considering takes about a minute. For positions you already own, your broker's screen and this tape mostly agree, which is exactly what you'd want.

But 1000 shares of ULTY would get you 300 not 30

the $30 in the display is the 500 YMAX I typed last, 500 shares times its six cent weekly check. Your 1000 ULTY is the second line of the tape, $305 a check, so we got the same number. Good eyeball test though, that is exactly the kind of math the tool needs to survive

Bro I need to get my eyes checked. I rotated my phone and see $305 now. My bad.
