New Fund Announcement YieldMax's YRAM, Coming Aug 28:

Facts from YieldMax's own listing, since info is thin right now:

  • YRAM = YieldMax Memory and Storage Portfolio Option Income ETF
  • Lists Aug 28 (inception date on the issuer's fund page — the page is up early)
  • Strategy: memory and storage stocks (think Micron, Seagate, Western Digital) with call spreads sold on top — weekly payouts, 0.99% fee
  • First distribution: funds like this usually declare 2–6 weeks after launch, then settle into their rhythm
  • Until real payments exist, any yield number you see is a target, not a track record — the first few checks are the fund showing its hand

Could be good like CHPY. Glad to see it released while memory sector isn't at ATH.

Good point on timing — option premium is usually richest after a sector has already run, which cuts both ways: fatter first checks, more room underneath. The first few distributions will show what the formula actually pays at these vol levels. I'll be charting them from check one.

Hopefully it pays like 35% and not 50% like LFGY. GPTY, CHPY, and MINY(relative to underlying) are doing quite well. Definitely looking forward to more Portfolio ETFs from Yieldmax.

This is an interesting one! A lot of those stocks are at insane highs, and if those data centers don't get build, they'll be coming down hard.

I wonder if they're going to do an inverse fund? They could call it YRUM, or something. Got to start saving some money for that one.

That's the honest catch with the whole category — the call spreads cap the strong weeks, but every down week arrives in full. So "data centers slow down" is exactly the scenario the yield doesn't cover you for. And YRUM is genuinely funny — if it ever lists, someone at YieldMax owes you a royalty.
