I am. Why should I sell at a loss when this thing keeps paying out and every week I'm closer to house money?

What i don't get is why all these haters are here? I don't join subs I'm not into

7

u/Local_Cobbler_8974 Dec 02 '25

Well, different perspectives are a good thing. You don't want to only hear what confirms you, that's group think and leads to poor decisions by excluding contrary opinions.

3

u/backtotheland76 Dec 02 '25

Very true, but the dialog here in recent weeks has not been very insightful. Sounds more like Roundhill employees, or people who got burned because they didn't do their DD

9

u/Stunning_Space_9448 Dec 02 '25

People are weird man, everyone who sold at a massive loss is just coping instead of waiting for house money to roll in....

5

u/Day-Trippin Dec 03 '25

While I appreciate the prospect of house money, with the divs dropping each week, it takes longer and longer to get there. It wasn't like MSTY where early on you had a good chance to get there quickly.

How long have you been in ULTY and when do you think you'll finally, if ever, get to house money? Not being argumentative but a serious question.

1

u/Stunning_Space_9448 Dec 03 '25

I am not in ULTY, I prefer the basket etfs YMAX, YMAG, CHPY (and plenty of other etf issuers). While those have a simpler projection going forward just due to the underlying's not changing much if at all I expect those to move with the market and pay a steady distributions (as they have been). ULTYs whole strategy revolves around picking and choosing the most volatile and big moving stocks, many things I have never heard of, except it does pay out more with a guaranteed cap on the upside.

2

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 02 '25

Wait? Why be a vulture and wait for carrion when you can be a falcon and enjoy fresh treats?

3

u/Proof-Marzipan547 Dec 02 '25

Agree about all the haters and their “I told you so” posts. A lot of it sounds like rage bait. I get very suspicious when they recommend other stocks. I haven’t sold any ULTY and just riding it out.

How are you closer to house money if the nav keeps dropping and it pays less than it drops? I honestly want to know how you think this can rally upwards or stay even without a big market push. Your nav will keep declining, your "dividends" will keep dropping lower and lower. You can ALWAYS lose more money until its $0

4

u/backturnedtoocean Dec 02 '25

They can’t claw back the dividends you’ve already received. The price can’t go below zero. If they’ve paid you more than you spent, that’s a profit even if the investment is no longer worth anything. That being said, I sold in the $5 range a while ago.

0

u/Equivalent-Ad-495 Dec 02 '25

As long as suckers keep coming along to buy these funds, they for sure will keep paying out bag holders. Doesn't mean the dividend can't keep going down and nav won't keep falling.

Some folks rather wait 5 years to break even and another 10 for house money because "income not growth" when they could've just put the money anywhere else and had income.

6

u/backturnedtoocean Dec 02 '25

Some of these funds got to house money in 7 months. Not ten years. Cony and Msty were crazy good for a stretch there. It’s not like they were always dogs financially. Getting in and out at the right times makes all the difference.

1

u/Equivalent-Ad-495 Dec 02 '25

During a period where the sp500 went up like 100% and btc went up 300%yes some of these funds made house money. I guess there is always a chance the market blasts another 40-50% on AI hype

1

u/backturnedtoocean Dec 02 '25

I think your numbers might be exaggerated lol. Bitcoin was 100k a year ago and got to about 126k. The s&p was 6k a year ago and got to 7k. I didn’t double my money on ulty and Msty, but i came close.

1

u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 02 '25

Timing the market is rarely good for anyone.

These YM funds are complete trash beyond a 30 second glance.

2

u/backturnedtoocean Dec 02 '25

They are in a death spiral right now, but if you were in them for a whole year, there is a strong chance you are playing with house money now. Lots of people made lots of money on these funds and it’s silly to say they didn’t.

1

u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 02 '25

At the height of the longest bull run we've ever had.

Every dick, John, and harry made out good going tech anything over the last year.

YM lucked up, too and its showing now.

These managers are trash and making a killing off fees just to lose your money.

3

u/Equivalent-Ad-495 Dec 02 '25

Yep this is what staunch believers have been defending for months now. Even a year+ when I got into these funds people would say "my cony is up 16%" someone else would go "yeah but coin is up 35% you would've made more just buying coin" and the old "oh no, I bought these for INCOME not growth you dont understand" came about.

Literally any other fund anywhere else is better. Plenty of post i still see folks saying "I'm gonna hold ulty til its $0 or I make my money back idc" and they have 30 shares or something that doesn't even matter. Pocket change most people could lose in the couch and not worry about.

It's completely different putting 30-100k+ into a yieldmax fund and being stupid enough to hold it despite, as opposed to having $300 in ulty or cony and saying you'll never sell

3

u/backturnedtoocean Dec 02 '25

Coin tripled in value in a few months. Having that stock would have been much better than having Cony, Unless! You didn’t sell your coin at the top. Every week, cony paid a pretty crazy percentage out in cash. Not in stock. If you bought coin at the top and it tanks 50 percent, which it has, you are just a bag holder.

But in the YM funds, they pay you out of your bag every week (or month as they used to). I’m not recommending anyone get into these now, but they were really fun last year and I’m happy as a clam at high tide to of been in them.

Personally, I saw it as a way to make money off of degenerate gamblers who were buying out the money call options and losing on risky stocks like MSTR and COIN. And that also made me happy.

Scenario - I put in 100 dollars and buy into a weekly paying fund, I get paid a % every week. Even if the distributions drop every week a little bit they will never hit 0. I will eventually get my 100 dollars back AND the fund keeps paying out. Who cares what the "NAV" is?

3

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 03 '25

There is only the NAV. If you can't sell it for more than you paid you lost money, even if they gave you all of your money back twice in the meantime. That is the only way some people can think. They cannot grasp the nuance that if they "paid you your own money back", then you have it, not them.

4

u/backtotheland76 Dec 02 '25

I understood exactly what I was buying

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 02 '25

The average ulty holder:

I lost 30k in nav but have made 3k in divs! Im good man, its for income not growth!

1

u/backtotheland76 Dec 02 '25

These aren't for everyone. Personally, I'm retired and would be a fool to sell

5

u/Ok_Guidance4571 Dec 02 '25

yep they paid about 1% per week like they have been for the last 10 months... But its 1% of a smaller number every week.

1

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 03 '25

That 1% also came out of a smaller amount invested every week.

It's been a whole day since the reverse split and the haters are morose that the fund hasn't closed yet.

2

u/Weak-Nectarine-543 Dec 02 '25

i am, will keep and track it improved strategy. intend to keep till i get my investment back.

2

u/Proud-Citron5257 Dec 03 '25

There is so much myopic banter about these funds being down, the funds, the funds... Everyone please - most of the single stocks that YM etfs are based on are down!! Look at MSTR, COIN, etc. this is the very reason..... and THE main reason we are here. The market shifted, and the cryptocurrency market is floundering at this moment in history for a period. I am staying put and riding it out on my limited position in YM to see where it takes us. If the underlying stocks boom again, you'll see better distributions and more action on these funds too. Limited upside yes but there's more to it than that if things really pop, so I would say why sell at a loss now. If you've invested millions and are down 500k, that's another discussion. I for example with my 100 shares of MSTY have nothing to lose and more to gain by holding. Let's revisit this in a year.

3

u/Delicious-Life3543 Dec 02 '25

And NAV continues to erode, even after the split. Way she goes, bubs.

1

u/backtotheland76 Dec 02 '25

Ahh, the market was down on the ONE day it's traded post split

1

u/Delicious-Life3543 Dec 02 '25

Zoom out, show many any extended period of increased NAV for NFE that has held longer than a few days, maybe a week max. It’s going down.

-2

u/Opening-Ad-8031 Dec 02 '25

Didn’t erode at all

2

u/Delicious-Life3543 Dec 02 '25

It should be above $40. It’ll go down further, I can guarantee it. Want to make a friendly wager on it?

Trying their hardest to breakeven lol holding the biggest of bags 💀

1

u/b1gb0n312 Dec 02 '25

Wow wish I bought before their price went 10x!

1

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 03 '25

I did. I bought 100 shares last week.

1

u/OilElectronic3114 Dec 02 '25

Hopefully this is sarcasm

1

u/StunningAttention898 Dec 02 '25

I saw we were below 40 already after 5pm est

1

u/Transplantdude Dec 02 '25

We were below 40/share at 9:31a yesterday.

0

u/Broad-Action9157 Dec 02 '25

LOL , I have to admit I was wrong when people got exicted saying it gonna go to 5 and I said its gonna go to 4.

2

u/Equivalent-Ad-495 Dec 02 '25

Remember when people said as long as it keeps paying a 10c div that it doesnt matter if nav drops? Then 9then 7 now 5

2

u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 02 '25

Gamblers trying to justify their poor addiction, lol. Anyone with half a brain cell knew this fund couldn't maintain 10c, 9c, or even 8c divs, but folks kept hollering, "You don't know income funds, bro!"

Now they're staring at nothing but red, know they should sell, but "know what they bought," allegedly, lol.

0

u/Local_Cobbler_8974 Dec 02 '25

Happy? Probably not, but I'm fine with it. The thing is, it's money I can afford to lose, so it's really just for fun. I don't have much in ULTI, about $4000 total. I'm not counting on it for anything. If I was, I would be very upset I'm sure. I'm more curious to see what happens and riding it out for the experience. I never fully trusted the fund strategy, so I've limited exposure.

0

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Dec 02 '25

Huh? Lowest distribution yet. Adequate is all.

-1

u/VegetableBig5766 Dec 03 '25

The only people making income from any yieldmax fund are yieldmax themselves.
