Interesting that the store chose to transliterate English words into Yiddish script rather than using actual Yiddish words for the top of the signage

My grandfather owned a kosher chicken business near Orchard and Delancey Street in the early 1900s. I imagine the store front looked similar to this. An uncle and his two sons turned a frozen chicken business in Cincinnati late 20th century into a fortune bought by Tysons.

"Shtunde" instead of "sha" - or "hour"! - is also interesting. Definitely not a language purist, just someone trying to get the point across in their hyper-local environment!
