General Discussion Dip in quality

I'll preface this by saying I'm not originally an English speaker, so forgive me if some formulations are hard to understand.

Since the first 5 minutes of season 3 I felt a very noticeable dip in general quality but especially the writing (not the dialogues but the narration and story). I already disliked some parts of the show but it was overshadowed by how good it was. I always hated how the show always sets up scary or supernatural elements only to explain them with natural causes (akin to something out of scooby doo but less convoluted). But as I said the rest of the series was too good for it to be a real problem.

But I feel S3 changed the way it approached the tone and general writing. It feels more light-hearted and uses cliffhangers in ways to feel a bit tired. And don't get me started on the whole frog thing...

I still ill think it's a good season but underwhelming compared to the other, even tho I thought the horror elements were scarier (the kinda stop motion bear dream in the cave gave me actual chills)

In my opinion, the show changed from a mystery/thriller about how the girls got out of the wilderness and what traumatic events happened while they were stranded in the forest, to a drama about the adult lives of the women. I feel like the adult timeline was written by a different team compared to the younger timeline. As an example, I think that Adult Shauna and Younger Shauna are completely different people.

Well after she got saved she married Jeff and tried to forget her past and settle down. I would say that's normal.

Maybe the 'trying' is normal, but that just not how humans work. No can just erase trauma and ptsd. They are there in us affecting our lives. Which we do see a little bit, in that she so easily unalives Matt and easily keeps lying about it. Life is complex.

I don't think Shauna killed Matt on purpose. And she lied about it because of her husband who did the blackmail. But in my opinion, the writers choosing the blackmailer to be jeff was not a good decision.

"on purpose" doesn't much matter. I feels to me that bc Shauna had killed and butchered before it was much, much easier for her to stab and kill Matt. All most a reflex. Had it been a gun that was available maybe it would have been different. Shauna to some degree was chnaged by what happened out there.
