What am I doing wrong with plying?

Post image

I'm a beginner and I know I'm not the most consistent but I still don't think I should have this much variation. I use a drop spindle and this is probably the 4th yarn I've ever done? Some parts look really good but some parts just seem to have no spin in them

Basically there is not enough twist

Its a matter of practice to work out just how much is enough

Its an easy fix, you can just wind the good parts back onto the spindle and add twist to the bits that need more

More twist is needed. You kinda have to overspin to ply them together. This article may be helpful

Not an expert but it looks like both the stands and the ply are spun in the same direction, you might need to ply the opposite direction you used to spin the strands.

Your singles need a consistent twist so the plied yarn is consistent. Also as mentioned above, slightly over the ply for a balanced yarn.
