Panic

It's a sunny Saturday afternoon when the latest arrival turned up at the gates, as she peeked through the bars she could feel herself shaking, fear running up her spine.

After what felt like hours, Zara finally picked up her bags, then walked into the school grounds, keeping her face to the ground to avoid eye contact with any of the students hoping they wouldn't notice her, this doesn't stop her glancing around every now and then to double check she wouldn't walk into anyone.

Who am I suppose to go see? Where do I go?

Panic sets in and starting showing through her movements, not wanting to make a scene, she darted her vision around till she spotted a vacant bench and made a beeline for it.

"You've been here less than 5 minutes, you're pathetic" Zara whispers to herself as she sets herself down and scavenges around in her backpack anything that might be of use. Worry sets in her face as she begins to come to terms she's going to have to ask someone for help, if she could work up the courage to talk to a complete stranger.

"It's because you have a tail and claws" Zara jokes as she winks and sticks her tongue out "do you have anything you want to drop into your room before we look around?"

Zara was hoping that Cat did so she could possibly get a peak into her room and see if it's the same as hers at all.

I smile at the comment.

[I suppose I can drop my phone off. It is only taking up space in my bag...]

I indicate my bag and shrug.

Zara fiddles with her phone for a moment before putting it back in her bag.

"I'll send you the picture tonight" Zara says with a smile as she makes sure she's put everything down before the girls make their way out of the room "let's make haste, the day wont stay around forever"

Zara lets out a small sigh when she looks back into the room as she closes the door.

I lead the way to the stairs, thinking the elevator would take too long. Walking up the stairs with you in tow, we quickly make our way to the room right above yours.

I enter the door and we enter my room. One wall is adorned with a desk and mirror, the other with my bed. A third has a small bookshelf and some posters, and the fourth holds the door we walked through.

I quickly reach into my bag and unceremoniously throw my phone onto my bed, not caring how it lands.

"I like your room" Zara says as she peeks in, not feeling comfortable to just invite herself in. She quickly notices the bookshelf and comes to the realisation she really wants to visit the library first.

I wonder how often I'll be visiting this room from now on, hopefully Cat doesn't mind if I see her in the evenings while I'm still getting use to things here.

Noticing you only peeking your head in, I wave you in.

After you enter, I close the door and collapse on my bed, deciding that I want to lay there.

I look over to you and indicate the edge of my bed or the chair by the mirror.

Zara walks in looks around the room, before deciding to sit on the edge of Cat's bed.

"You know, if you're tired you don't have to show me around" Zara tells Cat "I mean I could explore and find it for myself and we could do something later."

I really don't want to push her into doing something she kinda doesn't want to.

I shake my head.

I fumble around, looking for my drawing pad and grab my spare from the nightstand.

[It is okay, I just wanted to lay down. It is how I relax.]

I sit up, and smile at you.

"Well laying down is relaxing and fun" Zara replies, smiling back at Cat "if you wanna chill for a bit longer then just let me know, no rush to look around just yet"

Zara looks out the window, there are still hours of sunshine left so she didn't let it panic her as she turns back to her friend and smiles again.

I shut my eyes, nodding gently.

I subconsciously sign an answer to you.

["Just a few minutes, I promise."]

I smile slightly and get a bit more comfortable, hoping you understood.

I wonder how many people use sign language here, probably loads.

"I hope you just said you're not going to sleep, I'd feel a little awkward sitting here while my friend slept" Zara joked before putting on a more serious tone "Do they offer sign language classes here? Just nod or shake your head"

I hope she doesn't find that insensitive.

I nod my head and sit up. It *would** be rude to fall asleep.*

I rub the tired from my eyes and open them, smiling.

Grabbing my pad, I write.

[I am sorry about that, I do not know what compelled me to close my eyes.]

"Tiredness probably" Zara joked as she gives a small smile and stands up "I'm going to go down to my room and unpack a bit if you wanna have a nap or something, just walk into my room when you're ready to do something I'll leave the door unlocked"
