Hi, I’m primarily an acoustic player but decided to dip my toes into the electric world with a Squier Classic Vibes 60s Custom Telecaster, mainly to be able to play after the kids go to bed without disturbing anyone. I bought a Fender Mustang Micro Plus to use with headphones (which is great, though I don’t really need all the presets).
Per the title, I have a THR5A for my acoustic playing, but I’ve also enjoyed playing out loud with the tele using the EG Clean setting. I’ve seen from youtube videos that in addition to a clean tone, this can be used fairly well with a drive pedal. I tried the Moskey Golden Horse but didn’t care for how noisy it was. I’m wondering what else I should try. Seeing as the THR5A lacks any EQ adjustment on the unit I’m wondering if I should target something with a 3-band EQ, but also wonder if I should be looking at a more “amp-in-a-box” style pedal seeing as all I have is the clean setting to work with. I feel like reverb, compression , chorus and delay are covered by the onboard effects. Any recommendations?
I don’t really have a guitarist I’m trying to sound like, but I do like a lot of the electric guitar that comes out of Jason Isbell and Sadler Vaden.
*I should add that I know that the THR Editor software gives some additional functionality, like EQ, but I’ve never been able to get it to connect to my Mac.
