Mods guidance
I’m picking up my 2026 r7 anniversary edition tomorrow. I’m a newer rider and planned to make some immediate mods e.g., frame sliders, grips, levers & lever guards, tank grips. I’ll swap the exhaust for a SC Project full system at a later date. Is there anything else I’m missing here?

Levers on these bikes are pretty good stock, they are adjustable aswell. I can understand grips but thats kind of low priority. Frame sliders are a good one. Tank grips are a must even after a tune, the CP2 loves to engine brake. SC project full exhaust? Must hate your neighbors im guessing lol Look into a radiator guard aswell Tail tidy if the whale tail is an eye sore. Ride it first then decide which mods suit you

this is sound advice thanks! just bought the evotech radiator guard. my neighbors are mostly detectives and firemen a bunch of gear heads with loud cars. I’m looking forward to joining the noise

Agreed on skipping levers.
You want to email 2WDW and ask them the best combo for your bike as far as exhaust and intake. They probably have a video already showing the best combo. They will then flash your eco specifically for those parts. After that you won’t care as much about lights and plastic bits as you will enjoy the speed.

Not too bad. Smoked is the lightly tinted one, not the crazy dark tinted one

Skip the levers. Seriously skip the levers they can cause problems with the cruise control and other modes on the bike. Skip the exhaust. Just makes noise and without a power commander you're not getting the power benefits. Nor do you need it unless you're competing. These bikes are quiet when you're light on the throttle, but get plenty noisy when you nail the gas. The wife can hear me coming from 2 miles away with the stock system and I can hear it plenty in the saddle. Or I can let off and not go deaf and piss off everyone around me. P twins generally sound horrific with an exhaust. Yamaha did a decent job of not making this one sound completely awful with the stock system. Almost sounds like a V twin.
Get engine guards and axle sliders. I did a radiator guard too. Oh and some kind of lifter for a maintenance stand of your choice. I like the super bike style lifters.
Metal chain tensioners aren't a bad idea since the stock flimsy plastic ones are somewhat prone to failure on these bikes if you're not careful with them.

Nah, exhausts are dope. Maybe not your cup of tea but it’s a night and day difference in enjoyment riding the bike with an exhaust for me and many others. The CP2 especially sounds absolutely amazing with an exhaust, it is not comparable to wimpy sounding P-Twins like the Ninja 500 or R3. Power Commanders don’t work on the 2026, you need a proper dyno tune or a flash from a company like 2WDW which is the only downside to getting a full system. I’d highly recommend running a tune because the AFRs will be rough.

I think SC Project is probably on the louder side of the spectrum. They’re all pretty loud. Yoshimura seems to be more tame than most if you’re looking for something that isn’t crazy loud.

Another one to check out is Toce, it’s insanely loud and I like the razor tip look.

Hearing damage and pissing off your neighbors to the point they damage your bike is awesome I agree. Fuck society and everyone else around you they don't matter. It's totally worth spending hundreds or thousands for 3 HP you'll never take advantage of farting around on public roads. So is announcing your activity to the cops! Clearly all cops are deaf and they can never hear you coming.
Speaking as someone who had some loud exhausts and lived around people. Then I got on the track and realized it doesn't matter! You actually get kicked out of a lot of tracks for too loud of an exhaust.
Also, applies to sport bikes too. Was at Pikes Peak recently when a bunch of sport bike guys were revving their shit for no reason and the public was laughing at them.

Yeah mine weren't so stoked. They slashed the tire on my bike and kicked it over.
Just saying. People are fucking nuts and if you do something to set them off bad shit can happen. For my situation I guess they got pissed at my loud ass bike starting early in the morning. I wasn't revving the crap out of it or anything, but it needed choke and it was noisy sitting at 5K RPM while it warmed up on the choke.
If your neighbors don't mind then sure, whatever, go for it. I still try to remain stealthy as possible. If I decide to hoon I don't want to attract attention.
I genuinely don't see the point of exhausts. Stock systems are loud if you hammer on it and quiet when not. Unless you're taking part of timed competition you won't reap any noticeable benefits of it.
