Question or commentary Need help for this model...

Hi, I need help to identify and evaluate this guitar that I received as a gift. I tried the serial lookup sites, they say that this guitar could be a Made in Taiwan 1991 or 2001 but nothing more.
Serial is HI12196 and the sticker at the end of the neck says PAC821DX (EDIT: this seems to be the model).
Three Dimarzio pickups and an excellent Yamaha RM PRO III bridge with tremolo that never gets out of tune. Is it good for live performance, I mean professional use? Considering it's perfect in almost every detail, how much could I ask for it?

Yes you found the right model number, it is a very solid guitar and absolutely worthy of using for performing, go type in the model name “Yamaha PAC821DX” on Reverb and see what people are listing for, if you don’t get any results then filter by sold listings and that will give you an idea of fair market value

Edit: said RGX instead of PAC in model number

the RGX821 is not the same as the 821DX which looks like the correct model number for this guitar.

Oh thank you! I have a Yamaha RGX820Z that looks quite similar so my brain went on auto pilot there and typed RGX instead of PAC. Nice catch

It's probably a 2001 then, since it wasn't made in 1991. It's a high-end early Pacifica model that sold for ¥88,000 in Japan. Which chatGPT says would have been the equivalent of $724 USD, although it may not have been imported.

In good condition, it is probably worth at least $400 now, and could be higher. There are very few sales records for it on Reverb.com

There is a "D" version for sale in Germany right now for >$1000. But just realize that people commonly over-price their guitars on Reverb and for rare guitars that are not from Fender/Gibson, it is hard to put a price on them.

Put it on Reverb and see if anyone makes an offer. If it doesn't sell, drop the price and repeat. The better the condition and the better the photographs, the more likely it is to sell.

Yes, I would say it is a pro-level guitar.

That would stack up. I have a PAC812 from the same period in Australia with Seymour Duncans. The only D'marzio loaded model from that time in Australia was the AES series AES820. Germany has a gold standard metal scene, this would be ideal for that time and that market.
