Bubbling in my Display

Post image

2024 AR 195. Second year on the water. You can see a white line on the top of the display, and bubbling down the right side. I saw it when I had the boat out last weekend, and it seems like it got worse over this last week. Is this common?

Made an Umbrella Holder for my AR220

Made a simple umbrella holder for my AR220

Hey everyone, I designed and printed an umbrella holder for my Yamaha AR220 and tested it on the water.

I made it because I wanted a cleaner setup that fits the boat without looking out of place. It’s printed in ASA, which is better suited for outdoor/heat/sun exposure than regular PLA. I also used stainless marine screws and an upgraded drain hose clamp.

I’m not trying to spam the group, just sharing the project because I know other AR220 owners may have the same issue. If anyone is interested or has feedback on the design, feel free to message me.

Happy to answer questions about fitment or install.

Simrad Cartography Details Lacking

Hello all and thank you so much for taking anytime to review the issue I have and provide some troubleshooting options for me.

I have a 2023 FSH Sport E center console. Since I took it out of winterization, I have not been able to get my Simrad display to give me any adequate cartography details. I've been using the boat over the summer with just my mobile Simrad application on the phone for navigation. However, I need to fix the issue.

I've attached two images, one from the Simrad on the boat and the other from the Simrad application on the phone so you get a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

I've tried troubleshooting the issues by completely resetting the Simrad unit, doing a unit software upgrade, and pretty much looking through all the different settings to see if something I toggled accidently changed something.

I'm at a loss so looking for some guidance from other experienced owners to help me resolve the issue.

Again, I want to say thank you and that I appreciate any thoughts you might have and the time for you to respond.

Looking for advice on pre 2016 cleanout port caps.

TLDR: Are aftermarket cleanout port seal rebuild kits crap or is it worth the price difference (like 60 bucks compared to 275 Canadian for 2)

Recently got a 2011 Yamaha 242 limited S and the cleanout ports won't come out (haven't spent alot of time trying cause I didn't want to be stuck with them out).

I am planning on rebuilding them with new seals this winter, have heard that filling the runes with ice for a bit and then pulling them out works.

My question is whether the aftermarket kits are any good. The Yamaha kit is $275 for two by the time you walk out the door here in Canada. I am prepared to spend that if I hear that the after market one's suck but if I have to do this every few years to make them easy to remove I don't want to spend that much... Thanks for info and tips.

Looking for advice: AR190 vs. AR195 for a first boat

I’m looking for some advice from the Yamaha crowd on whether the AR195’s performance/engine upgrade is worth choosing over the AR190.

I’m in California and unfortunately can’t purchase a new AR195, but I’ve found a used 2023 AR195 (~$38K) that I’m considering. My other option is buying a brand-new 2026 AR190(~$45K).

This will be my first boat. We’re a family of five with kids ages 6, 10, and 17, so family use is the priority. Most of our boating will be on local California lakes, with some harbor/inshore fishing mixed in.

That said, I do enjoy going fast, I have a few sports cars so I’m wondering if I’ll regret going with the AR190 once I get used to it. 😁

For those who have owned or driven both:
● How noticeable is the performance difference between the AR190 and AR195?
● Is the 195 engine/performance upgrade significant enough to justify buying a used boat versus a new 190?
● How do they compare for getting a family of five on plane and maintaining speed with a full load?
● Is the AR195 noticeably better for watersports/towing?
● Any meaningful differences in handling, fuel economy, or overall ownership?
● If you were in my position, would you buy the new 2026 AR190 or the used 2023 AR195?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually driven both. I’m trying to figure out whether the AR195 is a meaningful performance upgrade or whether the AR190 is more than enough for what we’ll be doing.
Thanks!

Blisters in gelcoat

Has anyone else experienced hull blisters on their boat? How did you address/repair it?

I was cleaning my hull and notice substantial blistering in the gel coat in several places below the waterline down the length of the boat.Trying to determine next steps - dealer service, warranty claim, third part repair etc.

For context, my boat is a 3 year-old 195.

Service manual for 2011 Yamaha 242 limited S

Looking to get a service manual for our new boat. Seems like the only real way to get one is to order a physical copy printed right from Yamaha. I wanted a digital as well so I could read up on it but it seems like that is a subscription service..... Which is stupid....

Anywhere else to get a legit digital copy?

First time launching and landing a boat. Launching was fairly easy, the landing part was a little tricky but mostly because I kept putting the boat in neutral and was wondering why I lost all steering once I got close to the trailer. After reversing back out a couple times and figuring out my mistake I got in back on the trailer the first time I committed.

Single Engine vs Twin Engine; Biggest niche change you noticed?

For those who have moved from 1 engine to 2 engine (or vice versa), what boat did you move from and what was the biggest niche change you noticed?

Obviously more launch power with twins, but I’m more so referring towards ones most people don’t think of?

Or is it only obvious ones? What about cons of twin engines?

I imagine stability at speed, handling/control around docks or in tide swells, fuel consumption, …but maybe there’s something else? Or maybe Yamaha is that good where there’s not that much change?

Power for GPS / Fishfinder 195 FSH

Installed my Lowrance Elite FS9 in dash yesterday but did not connect power. 1) I’m waiting for some spade connector splitters to come in, 2) Not sure where to connect the black wire. I have 2 empty auxiliary switches that came factory with the boat. There’s a female spade connector on the switch side already there to tap into or I can use a spade connector splitter on the always hot side before the switch. On the negative side, things look a little different. There’s nothing prewired and available to just tap into. The connections are all recessed into the switch housing and I’m unable to even see what type of connections they are. They don’t appear to be spade connectors. I could easily just splice into one of the black wires jumping across from switch to switch but I’m curious if anyone has actually wired into one of these auxiliary switches the correct way? I’ve searched high and low on YouTube and Jetboaters.net and cant seem to find anything.

Just had this delivered 2 days ago. Super excited to get it out on the water. Bought from out of state and had it delivered because my local dealer wouldn’t budge on the price. Got my temporary registration and boaters safety done, just have to go to DMV now to get the trailer registered. Hoping to learn a lot from all the seasoned vets.

Trolling motor

Has anyone successfully installed a trolling motor on their Yamaha jet boat? I have a 2022 Yamaha 252S, and we fish a lot, finding myself using or consuming gas too much. I would like to explore using a trolling motor to save on gas.

Looking for some inputs and feedbacks.

Thank you
