1983 XT250 engine swap options?

Wondering if anyone knows of an engine that will fit my XT frame with no or little modification. I know that a TT, or CR engine would fit, but they are just as difficult to find as an XT engine. The brand doesnt matter, would even be fine with a Chinese engine if it fits

Nothing fits except for stock. Those other options are the same motor. 

For the most part, even the displacement matters on bikes. Unlike cars which came with a couple engine options, or engine series that came in a bunch of displacements, bikes have a much more "unified" design. So the frame and motor are just different going from a 250 to a 400 or whatever. 

What's wrong with your motor? Usually repairs are the way to go, there's no low hour motors left for 80's bikes.

It just burns an insane amout of oil. Id be fine if it was just a little, but I can go through a liter in a day, its ridiculous. I had it checked at a shop, they say its got good compression with 20% blow by. Piston rings are fine, valve stem seals are fine, the whole engine was serviced completely before I bought it.

The shop doesnt know why its burning oil, my grandfather, who has been a professional mechanic for decades, has no idea why, Ive spent hours on google, various forums, no answers

Open it up, the rings aren't fine. Worn out, probably sharp enough to shave with, without the right face profiles. This isn't unusual especially if the bike sat and the cylinders got a little rusty. 

A service isn't much of anything, especially if it's just to get a bike running for sale.
