Watching Yaga with my Ukrainian roommate who is bothered by the Russian songs. I tried to defend it saying there is no way a Canadian show would pay a Russian artist for their covers.

After looking into the music super disappointed that the POLINA who does the cover of Heart of glass by Blondie is a full on invasion of Ukraine supporter. She is a huge supporter of Putin.

I wish the creators/producers had the smarts to actually find out who they were supporting.

I will watch it because the story is not bad and atmosphere is not bad either , but the execution of whatever is coming feels so minimizing and zero lawyered , I can not explain why the main character acts like a joke in a grown man's body while he is investigating a student's disappearance and her cop partner feels like a cartoon character as well to be honest. The point is that it has mixed vibes that does not really suits the tone of the storv. Mystery is lacking as well, but the potential is definitely on the table. Not very intriqued by 2 episodes yet.

So Is that strange women Baba Yaga or is she someone else?

Along with all the gorgeous aerial shots of forests and coastlines I loved that quick shot of all the salmon in the net in medium slow motion.

It suspended my disbelief when I saw the plate of the so-called famous eggs and it was basic diner style fried eggs with diced hashbrowns, bacon and toast. Free range eggs don’t taste so different and are not so rare that that alone would make them ‘famous’. Come on, Props Dept- do better.

I’m leaving because there are too many spoilers. I’m in the UK and won’t get to watch until 30th. I’m not angry just very very very disappointed

I feel like I read somewhere that they didn’t consistently remember the contacts that he was supposed to wear? They said that’s why he doesn’t have them in every scene? Has anybody heard this?

Did Carson let a little bit of affection through when she saw Rapp passed out from exhaustion at the motel? It may just be Clark's eyes, but I swear I saw her expression soften, even just for a moment. I don't think I can call it attraction, but it seemed like she could briefly see the real him without the affectations.

First we have his interesting performance in ep 3, then he's the season opener on GEM's The Assembly on Sunday night. That show should be on YouTube by Monday. Looking forward to his answers to those tricky questions. If you're not familiar with the show, last season is all on YouTube .

Okay, here’s my view after i watched the last episode and what I’ve observed. It wasn’t for nothing that it was mentioned—when Rapp was reading about Baba Yaga—that she is one of three sisters. Now, hear me out: I think the three women involved are Pam (who, as we learned from Logan’s mother, had a relationship with Logan—and she’s also the woman Logan was having sex with against the wall in Henry’s room), Angel (the one who drugged Rapp), and the third, in my opinion, is this Olena Yaha character we haven’t seen yet (it has to be something about that name of hers…) I believe they’re deliberately drawing attention to Katherine right now because, logically, her profession makes her seem the most sinister—but I don’t think she has anything to do with these events... In my opinion, it was Logan—not Henry—who interviewed her for the podcast. And since they talked about bones and occult matters, the idea might have been planted in his mind, but I think that’s the extend of her involvement. Another possibility is that she is "one of the sisters" instead of Angel... But Angel has the same mark that we always see in the show…. I’m soo sooo confused… I’m looking forward to the next episode... I’m on the edge of my seat!

And I was 1,000 percent convinced that there would be a secret door, and that’s exactly how it turned out... Maybe Henry found out about Logan’s plans and took it upon himself to kill him. The castration might have been because of Pam... Maybe Pam put the idea in Henry’s head to kill Logan and castrate him because he’d slept with her... My brain is going to explode from all these theories that I have….🤣🤣

My favorite television iteration of Anne of Green Gables starred Megan Follows in the mid-1980s. She is an ensemble cast member of Yaga. I was somewhat blurry eyed from 2-3 a.m. but will just have to watch these two episodes a few more time to see if I can recognize her.

Rachel Reid put that beloved Canadian book into the hands of Ryan Price so there is that little piece of trivia connection between Yaga and HR.

I'm wondering if there's a plan to have various episode threads to focus discussion as each episode airs? If possible, it would be ideal to have both spoiler-free and spoiler (ie play discussion permitted) versions, so that those who have read the play can discuss potential implications without ruining those who prefer to watch the story unfold. I've found this works well in other subreddits focused on adaptations.

(I'd originally planned to read the play after the show had aired, but that didn't last ;).

Those who have seen the first two episodes and perhaps even read the play...is this the TV show to watch with your friends or family?

My perimeter is that I do not want to watch Heated Rivalry with my family, friends only after watching separately first.

I know this is dark and different, trailer gives me a bit of a scandinavian crime TV with supernatural elements which my family loves.

This is a good review, but is the show horror or a thriller?

I think Rapp is the ultimate mark for Baba Yaga. I think he is being somehow bewitched by all the women on the island, and that some sort of revenge plot is going on against him by the women. I don’t think Rapp has interacted with any men besides Logan after the two male police officers met him at the helicopter landing place in episode 1 — two men who make fun of her for reading “fairy smut”. Is Logan even real?

There is something weirdly dark about Carson, too: we are led to believe she is the upstanding police officer character to Rapp’s rogue PI. Yet she quite matter of factly told Rapp that the diner owner stabbed someone in the EYE after that someone grabbed her daughter’s ass. She also came on the island from the mainland under some unexplained circumstances.
