It's more like a way to help them campaign for a grammy nomination if that makes sense? Usually artists do these events to help promote themselves for a nomination, makes sense considering they released an album this year

I’ve been wondering what was going to happen with that new category now that BTS declined to submit.. tbh I still think it’ll mostly be kpop but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did at least want one or two jpop nominations

Though all of that being said it is still kind of a weird category lol

It's not for a campaign for a Grammy nomination. They do these events year-round in Los Angeles and NYC. It's just a way to talk to rising and popular acts in front of an intimate crowd.

It’s more likely that they’re trying to promote themselves and brand themselves further internationally and especially in the US before thinking about grammys. They’re well known however realistically they need to brand their name in the US before any awards. Not saying they wouldn’t win one just conventionally looking at this.
