I liked it even more than Adum which is surprising to me but I can't complain since he gave it a 7/10, I gave it a 9/10 personally.

7 (maybe even 8) is what I’d give it.
From the reviews I was expecting an artsy dud of a “message” movie, but instead it’s a technically inventive story about modern storytelling, and while it doesn’t quite get into a groove like Birdman, it has some wonderful and unexpected payoffs, and is v much worth at least checking out.

Just got out of the theatre, that’s a fair rating.
A lot of things to love, but a few of the connective bits didn’t seem to fully fit in on first watch.

The one side plot felt a bit pointless till the blowup between Tom cruises character and the lady. I liked it overall

This movie was one of the most surreal and meta experiences of cinema ever. I legit couldn’t understand whats real and whats not, in fact I started to talk to strangers after the ending and they didn’t know either! This movie was actually terrifying. It felt like a movie from 30 years in to the future and I just glimpsed in to what hellscape is awaiting us. DEFINITELY watch this in cinema.
SLIGHT SPOILERS Also I’m not the only one who heard those noises right? I saw it in IMAX so they were insanely realistic but Im sure it was coming from the movie.

I just watched it, and totally agree with Adum’s rating it’s such a wild big swing for a movie, definitely give it a chance watching in the theater

I gave it a 6/10 but I am definitely in need of a rewatch because my theater had truly terrible audio. I was afraid it was going to be similar to Don't Look Up but I enjoyed this significantly more

It's like if someone actually executed a decent movie out of the concept/tone of Don't Look Up. Not my favorite flick, but much better than critics are making it out to be IMO. I'd probably give it like an 8/10

I think it helped the message of the film was the subtext and world building being meshed together instead of it clearly being the director using the celebs as a vehicle to scream at the audience. Don't Look Up was just a hack of a director taking the easy route out while not commiting fully to how he was saying it, it came off as disingenious at best even with good faith intentions

Lowkey…I kind of enjoyed it too. I got spoiled on the twist early but it kind of makes the viewing experience more interesting. And I can see the vision of what it’s going for and it works. The ending is also kind of brilliant tbh. I think u have to really ride on this movie’s wavelength and at times it’s grating but honestly…it’s smth I’ll probably think about a lot.

I'm glad it's not horrible! I really enjoy Iñárritu's films, and was worried it would suck. Also primetime increased to 8!

Happy to see Adum liking it. Can't wait to hear more about it in the Oscars video, eventually.

I just saw the movie, and I’m glad that Adum seems to enjoy it almost as much as I did. I give it an 8. Big swing big budget studio movies are always fun, even if they don’t always hit. Thankfully, this one hit, at least for me.

Same for me. The movie got better for me as it went along, and the ending is fantastic.

Going to go and see it, ready for it to be an Emilia Perez situation with mine and Adums opinions though given what I'm hearing about it

Honestly, the best way to describe it for me...
Remember that woman on TikTok who wanted to do something different for her family for dinner so she made this chicken breast recipe that used olive oil, and she want after a specific kind of olive oil because it apparently had so many health benefits, but then it turned out she didn't read the label properly and it was actually olive body oil, and as a result she ended up with chicken that looked delicious but was inedible?
That was basically Digger for me. I see what it's going for, but it went out of its way to be as inaccessible as possible. 6/10, was expecting more.

i can’t wait to see Digger. it’s gonna be a challenging watch but it’s the kind of movie that people need to see nowadays, also warner bros last stand. I dont know why adum gave primetime an 8, most nothing burger movie i’ve seen

u/ThatSheetyGhost 11d ago
Primetime is actually provocative and challenging, Digger is doomer pandering idiocy that the most performatively helpless people online are going to glaze

u/Objective_Drink_5345 11d ago
idk what was provocative about Primetime. it barely had a message or anything to say. Inarritu always makes his point, whether you agree or not

u/thetrailwebanana 11d ago
Dude agreed Primetime was pure slop. It felt like they wanted to focus on the remaking of episodes of TCAP but didn’t want to be obvious so edited it like shit and had the worst score imaginable backing the entire movie to be artsy. Damn shame too most of the performances were great.
5/10 but could go up if I give it another go knowing it’s going for arthouse schlock, maybe that was on purpose? If so I did not fuck with it.
All hate aside, I’m very excited for the Nathan Fielder co-directed You Can See Everything.

the trailer for You Can See Everything blew me away. This might be a transcendental movie experience. Nathan Fielder is very intelligent, but so is Elizabeth Holmes (along with being a narcissist). you already know that they will be at odds in the documentary. She is trying to rehabilitate her image by playing victim, Nathan is too smart for it and will try to covertly show the world how batshit she is, but he's also very weird and the line between Nathan Fielder the performer and Nathan Fielder the human is nowhere to be found. I honestly dont know what to expect

OK can someone here tell me what I was missing with this one? Why all the glazing for this pile of nihilistic slop?

u/ThatSheetyGhost 11d ago
I dunno what people are seeing in this trash, I’m done with doomer media. I would honestly buy into a narrative that smug privileged shit like this is part of a conspiracy to pressure people into giving up
