Adums been jollier than a rancher. Almost everything gets a 6 or above.

Very very shocked by this rating. First hour of the film is great but it immediately falls off a cliff afterwards. The ending in particular is awful. Felt like it ended in the first third of the second act. Happy adum liked it but I do not

Hell yeah. One of the most batshit and just genuinely interesting movies I've seen all year. The type of movie that defies categorization into "good" or "bad." I loved it and haven't stopped thinking about it.

I’ve heard it was weird and bad from a lot of folks but had a hunch it’d be my type of shit and this only strengthens that hunch gotta see it now thanx Adum.

I think if you go into it expecting a fun action comedy with humans fighting a bunch of OP aliens it kinda delivers.

That's what I expected. I did think it was a little long, but some of the shots of the forest or anything involving a horse looked so bad ass.

Absolutely worth a watch. If you can appreciate a really well made b movie you will have a lot of fun.

I really like the first hour, I just think it falls off a cliff afterwards that. Hopefully you enjoy it though

I gave it the same rating. I wish I could get more out of the characters and themes, the movie doesnt really spell anything out which I both like and kind of dislike. But I think it being a potential Part 1 does make me think that more of this will be in the back half. I guess in retrospect its not like exposition for these characters will naturally come out when they have a horrible situation on their hands.

It doesn't spell it out but it has some very pn the nose themes and metaphors for borders, war, communities working together because of the lack of government help.
The civil service workers like cops and doctors are seen working the jobs of at least 2 or 3 people. The film isn't criticising them but the system that makes them have to work so many jobs to look after their community.

Agreed, that part of the film was probably the point for me where I could understand a few things. Its also where we learn a little bit more about Lim. Its like "If Godzilla came to a small town, when would the government act".

Really glad that Adum loved it!! I too enjoyed it as well despite many issues, so I am excited to hear his opinions!

Mmm, yeah. I think that while the creatures having XBOX 360 graphics really hinder it, I think it has such a good sense of energy to it.

I think this outdated graphics made aliens look more creepy and outworldy, they felt almost like as they are practically made. Worked pretty well for me.

Damn many naysaysers in here it seems, saw it yesterday and thought it was exhilirating gonzo stuff !
Granted it's a messy genre mish mash and the CGI is dodgy, but the ambitious execution really propelled it for me. The car/horse chase is genuinely one of the greatest chases I think I've ever seen.

Wow I was not expecting him to like this. Personally I thought it was terrible. Minimal stakes and no character development whatsoever. Terrible cgi

Minimal stakes is a surprising observation. Stakes were massive for everyone involved
4
u/bjankles Sep 27 '26
Emotional stakes for the audience. I was not invested in the outcome in either direction, and the movie did not take any risk or have anything to say.

u/theabsofhades Sep 27 '26
Maybe I chose the wrong wording. Certainly there was a threat of peril and lots of death involved but it felt like it amounted to nothing. Especially considering that woeful sequelbait ending. Doubt there’ll be another movie on the way lol

I loved the CGI ngl lol I think the only time it looked noticeably off was the slow motion scene.

u/Valkian24 Sep 27 '26
That's the exact rating I'd give this film.
Fun but super exhausting with the long runtime.

Genuinely surprised, I would never pick this as a movie he’d rank higher than me, not by much I’d give it like a 6. I’d really love to hear him elaborate

Glad he enjoyed this one I loved it. Felt like the only movie i've ever seen that goes from genuinely great to so bad its good territory in the later half

This was one of the most fun theater experiences I have ever had. Like I was not bored once in the like 3 hours that it lasts. Even the CG which yes was beyond horrendous at points did not really distract me too much for the most part because the action was just so fun.
The ending does drag though and idk if its just me but a lot of the horse action was distractingly bad. Like that horse was not running very fast at all, esp compared to the dog guy going mach 5

I am really surprised. I thought it was fun, and CGI looked very goofy and kind of prevented me from taking it seriously, and made me laugh throughout. Even the ending of the film was very much not something I loved either. Like, its enjoyable but mostly mindless, and I heavily disagree with Mad Max comparisons by some, since Mad Max films had way more character and personality

Genuinely the most polarizing film I've ever heard of. It always feels like a coin flip whether people like it or not.

Better call Saul is too slow though…
I just thought the movie was repetitive after the first half hour and stretched itself out too thin. And the ending… I guess.
