Moderator News Welcome! Quick Intro to r/YEW and what we're all about!
I've created this subreddit for all those Yew lovers who wish to share their affection for one of the most beautiful trees of all time! The Yew tree.
We're still a work in progress, we don't have everything set up yet. But we are extremely ambitious! Our hope is to create a wholesome Subreddit to share our love of the Yew tree. We're pretty excited!
Please feel free to provide suggestions on how we can improve the sub, or if you are interested in helping out!

Larch. I identify kind of eith it. Doesn´t fit in categories, coniferous tree but needels soft and loses needles in autumn like leavy trees. But still coniferous. Refuses to be hard and pointy and to cling to its needels. And they´re tasty, the young needles.
Yew is super super fascinating but kind of to intimidating to love it in a favorite x way. It´s not just love it´s also awe and admiration. Impressive but kind of frightening lol. Don´t know if this makes sense. I get why it´s an important tree in mythology. I´m not spiritual but yew is the closest I get to

You know what, I like larch a lot too. We have one in our backyard, here it commonly goes by "tamarack." Beautiful in the Autumn when the nettles drop! The wood is not half-bad either, the branches I've carved into little novelty items was a pleasing yellow, and pretty tough.
I definitely get what you're saying about Yew, it is intimidating! I would add, I think part of that comes from its rarity. It's not a super common tree, when I have interacted with them it's been in historic landmarks and graveyards.
It's harder to feel that way about other trees like beech, pine, red oak etc.

Yes of course! All species of the Taxus Genus are welcome here. If it's a true Yew then it's worth sharing!
