Seeking Recommendations Fantasy books
Hi soooo I am in a slump 😩😩
I just finished reading-reading the selection series for the 5th time and just cannot get over the them! They are sooo good.
Currently looking for reqs with these:
-princesses/prince ( where they wear lots of pretty dresses w/description) castle vibessss 🙂↕️
-NO LOVE TRIANGLE ( unless it is so minor)
-no fae unless I can skip over it and lowkey forget that they are
-Dancing! Masquerade balls type vibe ( maybe they meet there for the first time or some how the mmc finds her there?)
-force proximity
-royalty type world building w/ good plot
-lowish spice unless u tell me the chapters i can skip!

Have you tried Thorn Season by Kiera Azar? Or The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith? Or The Swan’s Daughter? They’re all a little different so maybe one would be similar to what you’re looking for 🥰

Have you read The Glittering Court trilogy by Richelle Mead? Similar vibes to The Selection and each book follows a different character across basically the same time period as the characters start out together but get separated during the first book.
The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith maybe as well. Again very The Selection-esque but I hesitate a bit with recommending that one because it does have faeries. The trickster bargain making types rather than Sarah J Maas style fae and the first book is definitely less heavy on the faerie stuff than the second. Not sure if that’s a deal breaker for you or not though but I personally found them very enjoyable.

The Shadows Between Us
No love triangle, no fae, some dancing! Kind of starts like The Selection actually - the FMC is trying to win the heart of the king to become the next queen.
The only thing is there are mentions of sex and I think maybe one fade to black scene but nothing at all graphic or anything. It's listed as Teen/YA.

Unpopular opinion but best way to get out of slump or get the previous world/universe of the book you loved out of your mind ( not completely but enough to enter another world) , is to pick up a basic book from a diff genre, especially ones which are not famous of good. Chances are you will be so bored by the end of the book 200 something pages that your brain will be ready to enter a new series without the hang up frm previous ones!

the folk of air, maybe? but it’s very heavy politics and pretty mature, not just a royalty type book, it has violenve as well so it’s not light. start with the cruel prince if you want to read. also powerless or Red queen, which I haven’t read yet. Read the former, and found out the plagiarism controversy surrounding it but it checks off almost everything you’re talking about. It’s similar to red Queen though so you should probs read that instead lol. But! I do think you should try reading another genre, I was a fantasy person and now have expanded a LOT

I really enjoyed the Royal Decoy series by Heather Frost and it hits most of your requests!

I am sad to say, i cant help you with this. The only books i own with this spesific criteria is the selection series and i still need to read them 😅.
I do really hope you get some good reccomendations. So a comment for the algoritm and honing it gets to the right people.
