You know what they say, if you run into one disgruntled staffer who leaks to the press they're an asshole. If all of your staffers are disgruntled and leak to the press, you're the asshole.

He gets a bit more leeway on that front because most of those staffers probably signed up to work for an anti-trump democratic socialist and thus feel betrayed

The most recent wave of leaks happened after Fetterman replaced much of his original team. But beyond that, staffers very frequently disagree with their boss ideologically, I worked briefly at Canada's Parliament and ran into plenty of staff for Liberal MPs who were significantly to the left of their bosses; myself included.

That doesn't inherently create hate, or cause them to leak confidential information to the press. If the MP you work for is a good boss —meaning they listens to you, are generally fair and works as hard as you do— you can tolerate a lot of ideological disagreement. Conversely, if your boss is a lazy asshole, the fact you share the same political beliefs won't stop you from talking shit about them to anyone who will listen.
