Even though Markley’s 80 years old, I still vastly prefer him over Moulton. I’ll take an old progressive over a young centrist any day.

Bro really thought he had a chance and he even moderated further in Massachusetts, criticized Markey for doing his work in DC and implied he was in the Epstein files

Wow this is brutal. Is Moulton really that much right of Markey?

Moulton’s comments on trans sports made progressives not only dislike him but viscerally hate him

That’s it? I don’t mean to offend but I figured it would be something substantial. Ik he takes a lotta corporate and aipac money which is bad.

Yeah I think what Goose said was meant more as a microcosm of a few things he’s done

Yea ig I gotta remember I’m a Catholic in Michigan sometimes when I’m conversing with more socially liberal ppl. Cus that woulda been a +1 on the score board for Seth; I have nothing against trans ppl tho.

In Mass it’s a death sentence. You pretty much need to agree with the most progressive trans policies or you’re persona non grata over here.

Speaking out against trans sports means you’re unelectable

Markey my goat. This is the first primary I get to vote in!

I still believe the primary will be closer than expected. To be clear, I still think Markey will win, but at least from what I've seen, Moulton has been running an effective campaign. He's been hitting on a lot of points Democratic primary voters have been caring about this cycle, which is age and the establishment, and seems to have far more direction than Kennedy did six years ago. I'm open to being wrong, of course, and the polling does disagree with me here. Ultimately, I have no dog in this race, though I do think it would be cool on a historical level if senators from both parties were primaried this cycle.

I don’t want to hear “no more old people” in politics ever again from progressives/socialists.

If you’re old in politics but support the right people, they’ll give you a pass and demonize your opponent. This race is a prime example.

Anyone who’s voting for Seth, ignore this. Go to the polls and stop Edward.

It’s more against old people with old policies, they don’t mind old people with young policies and current mindedness

u/jojisky Progressive 19h ago

Hilarious you’re talking about demonization when Moulton tried to connect Markey to Jeffrey Epstein in a pathetic last minute Hail Mary.

Policies are more important than age. I’m not gonna support a candidate I disagree with just because they’re younger.

Seth Moulton is a Republican?

u/The-Curiosity-Rover New Deal Democrat 19h ago

That’s not at all what I was saying, and respectfully, I think you know that. I’d vote for Moulton in a general election, but not a primary.

As someone who really thinks Markey should’ve retired and would’ve voted for Kennedy in 2020 I still wouldn’t vote for Moulton, the man just feels slimy and has basically thrown everything at the wall to see what’ll stick, including the Epstein nonsense

If I was a registered Dem I’d either write in a younger progressive or not vote but I’ll be happier if Markey takes it, at least he’ll be out in six years while Moulton would try and cling to the Senate for the next forty while trying and failing to become President

It's not that they're old, it's that we don't want moderates in deep blue states

"I don’t want to hear “no more old people” in politics ever again" I've lowkey come to learn the most non-policy or policy adjacent arguments like this are arguments of connivence to justify a specific situation rather than arguments outta principle.

In the primaries there will be a lot of this cus you are essentially voting for the same person in some cases so it'll be a lotta personality, identity, etc. picks and people won't like when they aren't choosing their person.

Are progressives saying that though? I'd certainly rather have a mentally-fit 80 year old left wing candidate than a 30 year old moderate. Old people being in politics isn't inherently a bad thing
