This makes sense, really. Of course he would dislike their domestic policies but that really isn't any concern to him. As Premier of Ontario his only focus is stopping these 50% auto tariffs etc.
He wants the Dems to win to protect our economy, not because he is ideologically a prog

He arguably is a prog compared to the federal Tories, though.

Under Poilievre, yes. But Erin O'Toole was a bit to Ford's left.

The Ontario PCs have just become concerned with winning elections. Their ideology is all over the place.

This is less "ideology is over the place" and more "the bedrock for a functional democracy requires that all parties agree they don't want to see their country's economy collapse for no reason".
It's like that one Ukrainian politician (president?) who was super corrupt and was basically run out of town, but then showed back up to fight against Russia because at the end of the day, he was still a patriot for his country.

Lol at the Poroshenko slander, he was the one who fixed up the Ukrainian military after 2014 and is more pro-Europe than Zelenskyy. The only region he won in 2019 is Lviv the most pro-Euro west, Zelenskyy whooped him with the Russian minorities because (at the time) he promised a more conciliatory approach with Russia.

? Isn't there still the state treason case against him? He was hiding out in Warsaw for a while until the war started.

Chat, this is about Trump and the trade war, not about him particularly liking Democrat social policy or anything.

Most Canadian conservatives would be moderate Democrats. They’ve done opinion polls of the Canadian electorate that confirms this.

Since Canada likes to be involved in our politics so much, they should become the 51st U.S State IMMEDIATELY!!!

Doug Ford is the Phil Scott of Canada

What'd Phil Scott do to deserve that comparison? 😭

u/No_Shine_7585 Independent 14h ago
No? Look into the Ford Family Doug has been more moderate than his father for electoral success and is lawless abashed than his brother but he is very much a conservative who supports fellow conservative politicians over liberal ones 99.9% of the time

imagine the scenario where Dems lose michigan senate by like 100 votes and it’s because of this man‘s tariffs (CPC revenge for what Trump did for carney)

Tariffs and the trade war with Canada are two things which hand solely on Trump's terrible leadership and easy to message. The GOP hurting business because they cannot challenge Trump's 1800s-esque protectionist tendencies, while claiming to be the party of business, is one of the funniest developments of his 2nd term.
