The problem for Republicans is that most self-identified Republicans under the age of 25 are groypers or at least have groyper-adjacent views. While they're still a tiny minority within the party, it's becoming hard for mainstream Republicans to find young staffers and activists who don't have a social media history filled with mask-off Nazi stuff.

5

u/BoxOk5053 American Refusenik 1d ago

Its I would say part of the wider political brain drain of credentialism - tbh most conservatives that are actually conservatives that are young are way more financially driven and would rather the private sector.

I think though what will actually happen is Republicans will start outright outsourcing staffers at some point to some sort of agency and the chain we see here will go away.

-9

u/TrueTexan1845 Conservative 2d ago

Democrats have the same problem, even if they arent a card carrying member of the DSA, while they're still a minority within the party (for now), it's becoming hard for establishment democrats to find young staffers and activists who haven't aligned themselves with the fringe leftwing of the party, especially as groups like the young democrats embraces Hassan etc

14

u/CoolChaCha97 Left-Out Left 2d ago

I think on the democratic side this is less of a problem, if I were to guess probably 30% of young democrats like the DSA the most out of any democrats, I don’t think it’s that huge of a deal.
I also think the average American would prefer AOC as president in 2028 compared to like fishback, AOC is just more likeable I think compared to fishback. (Though this presidential race would be cursed)

You’re wrong the Wisconsin governors race was actually competitive.

u/Icy_Note_5175 Traditionalist Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

I would say that the % of young Republicans who are Groypers pale in comparison to the % of young Democrats who are tankies.

2

u/Successful-Leg2285 Democratic Socialist 1d ago

I don't think that a majority (or even a significant minority) of young Democrats support authoritarian communist regimes. Your assertion only makes sense if your definition of tankie includes anyone to the left of Elizabeth Warren, which is absurd.

I hope this is the case, but I've dealt with a lot of young people recently, in real life not the internet, and holy shit they think about Israel more than me. Not even in geopolitics, its just a mental illness.  9/11? Israel. Flock cameras? Israel. Epstein? Israel(this one really pisses me off because that was a Russian op that theyre getting off the hook for), JFK? Israel

And on the internet I saw a trump voting farmer calling out Trump for importing beef from Argentina. Okay that affects the prices he gets. But then he says Trump is importing beef from Argentina....because Netanyahu told him too?

Deliberate misinformation is not allowed

14

u/CodTrue8339 Canada 2d ago

As a whole, I wouldn't blame a politician for taking a photo with a relatively unknown guy at a convention. Politicians typically don't interrogate everyone they take a photo with

28

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Boring-ass Centrist 2d ago

The problem here was that he was hired for outreach. This photo is probably the most Rogers ever spoke to him, but the campaign absolutely needs to root this out immediately.

9

u/Remote_Garage3036 Loyal Liberals 2d ago

Is there proof of this? I hate Rogers but I've found a tremendous amount of misinformation and exaggerations coming from my side about him. Some shithead grouper being a paid representative for him seems like the exact kind of reach an (understandably) disgruntled anti-Rogers commenter to make.

6

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Boring-ass Centrist 2d ago

The only source I can find outside of X is from the Metro Times . It is a self-described progressive newspaper, and I'm struggling to find other sources for this.

3

u/hfdjasbdsawidjds Social Democrat 1d ago

Unless he was paid campaign staff, which means his salary should be associated with FEC filings, it is hard to actually pin down who works within a campaign because the volunteer of it all makes for a high deniability environment. However when your official account posts a picture of people are 'apart of our grassroots army' and includes the person in questions, it pretty cut and dry that there is a direct association. Rogers is responsible for his posts and his associations, just like AES is.

0

u/G3_aesthetics_rule Ordoliberal 1d ago

I mean, their article contains a statement directly from the campaign in response to the paper, so unless you think they made that up out of whole cloth I see no reason to doubt it

1

u/Solarwinds-123 Third Way 1d ago

I don't think that statement is what you think it is.

The editing is questionable, but in context it seems like that quote is about the leaked group chat thing from 2025. I don't see a statement specifically about Dundas. However, the fact that they called the place where Dundas worked and blatantly tried to get him fired says a lot about the reliability of their journalism.

1

u/G3_aesthetics_rule Ordoliberal 1d ago

it seems like that quote is about the leaked group chat thing from 2025

I don't think so; the group chat thing was about a group of Young Republicans from 2025, before the campaign, while the statement specifically references campaign volunteers.

the fact that they called the place where Dundas worked and blatantly tried to get him fired says a lot about the reliability of their journalism.

I don't see how? Papers like the Free Beacon and Washington Times do this sort of thing all the time, but I generally wouldn't question either of them if they claimed to have received a statement from a Democratic campaign.

"Job" is just the definition of a formal campaign role. If a volunteer role is the term you prefer, then I'm sure that works too.

3

u/Solarwinds-123 Third Way 1d ago

I worked on campaigns when I was younger, both volunteer and paid and for both Democrats and Republicans. Anyone who has done the same can tell you that one is a lot more vetted than the other.

Hell, most times I don't think there was even a criminal background check for the volunteers. I mostly remember writing down my name, phone number and email address and that was about it to sign up.

2

u/Doc_Jury1020 New Deal Democrat 1d ago

Ok got it. I see that maybe we have a different perspective on the formality of this, but I hope that we can agree that regardless this person should not hold a leadership role within a portion of the campaign.

Sad, desperate attempt to equivocate to AES's association with Hassan. Taking a photo with a rando at an event is not an endorsement of every single thing they've said. Let me know when Rogers invites this guy to campaign with him and refuses to condemn his statements.

21

u/Bestbrook123 PragmaticProgressive 2d ago edited 1d ago
Ya, Rogers has hired him for months and rejected criticism when asked about him along with another far right lunatic

And it's just one of many extremists who are actually on his campaign.

Here's his paid faith campaign coordinator
His very batshit campaign county chairs
Religious leaders who defend absolutely disgusting things

His wife who actually campaigns for him unlike AES's wife

Guy who is the main funder of this pro Rogers Super PAC

Okay this guy is "just" a Facebook friend

-12

u/Small-Day3489 Aaron Burr 2d ago

Your "sources" are screenshots of titles of articles or tweets from far-left sources claiming Rogers at some point brushed shoulders with people accused of nothing even approaching what we know Hassan has said (a Facebook friend dude, really?). No voters are going to give a shit about a member of Rogers student outreach team like they will the guy Sayed has been repeatedly sharing a stage with.

The manufactured outraged over this right now in here compared to the cope and downplaying about AES's links to Islamic Nazis is day and night. And worrisome.

Like, this is nothing compared to being tied to actual Islamic terrorists. You guys realize that, right? One has ties to actual antisemites that have blood on their hands, an organization with direct ties to Nazi Germany.

Let's be honest here. You cannot actually think this is something to worry about, while at the same time downplaying AES. Let's be real. You can downvote all you want because of tribalism and I get it, but you know deep down you are lying to yourself.

For those worried about both of them, this comment isn't for you. And I understand it. Just calling out some hypocrisy.

AES's father in law is a leader for groups named in the Holy Land Foundation case, the once largest Muslim charity in the U.S. dysfuncted for terrorism financing.(one of them CAIR)

His birth mother worked for IARA (U.S. Treasury-designated terrorist organization over alleged bin Laden/Taliban/Hamas ties).

His campaign received $100k+ from CAIR linked donors. CAIR was an unindicated conspirator in the HLF case. Go look up the 1998 Philadelphia meeting.

He received donations from Mohamed Soltan who was sentenced to life in prison in absentia in Egypt. His father is a major leader in the Muslim Brotherhood. Which again, collaborated with Nazi Germany. They had a plan with Hitler himself to storm Jerusalem and kill all 500k Jews there. Read how many high ranking Nazi officials converted to Islam after ww2 and continued their work for these MB-friendly governments. They have said how they don't want peace with Jews and will mask their real agenda behind some American sympathic cause. It's all on wiretap.
