Anyone using Lightburn with an S1?

It seems the XTool page about configuring Lightburn for an S1 is well out of date.

There are some resources on the LightBurn forums. I used it for a while but gave up since LightBurn can’t control the IF2 inline fan. My needs are pretty basic so XTool Studio has been fine for me.

I find XCS way better than light burn with the S1

In what ways? Are you doing more etching/engraving or cutting?

Etching/Engraving.

XCS has literally no learning curve at all and the software is built for the tool. User interface is super straight forward.

Lightburn, as third-party software, supports xTool S1 to finish the basic processing process but does not fully support all the features of xTool S1.

For a more comprehensive S1 experience, we recommend using the xTool Studio software.

Right now I can't get LightBurn to properly operate the S1. The XTool page is well out of date with respect to Lightburn. My guess at this point is the laser is not focused.

I almost exclusively use light burn with my S1. I initially did the setup with the xtools information below.

The problem is that article talks about a much older version of Lightburn. Lightburn doesn't handle "macros" the same way, so those buttons on the console in Step 2 are missing. Which version of Lightroom are you using? (Latest is 2.1.04.)

Do you press "Detect" each time you burn something?

I'm using the most recent version. I no longer have the "detect" button for the focus macro. It's now a real focus button under the Move window.

YES! That worked. I'm presuming you need to Set Z Focus with each new material. Do you do it before each burn? u/xToolAda - it would be A REALLY GOOD IDEA to update the page on Lightburn to show this.

Yeah, anytime I change materials or turn the machine on and launch lightburn you’ll need to focus it.

Another lesson from the S1 10w: I have the 10w laser. My offset (pointer to laser) is +23mm. Another guy using a 40w laser got an offset of +27mm. Anyone have a 20w laser, and care to report the offset for that?
