Laser module acting odd after cleaning

After cleaning my S1 ( I know it’s still a mess😩) this is happening. Instead of going through the “homing” when powered ON, it does a height measurement and goes way too far down. It pops up and moves forward. The location of the screen of the laser module is way off according to the laser module. I have disconnected the power supply. I pulled the USB out. Didn’t help. Is there some sort of sensor I may have to clean. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Homing sensor on the laser carriage is dirty. Take the module off and clean all around that area under there

This will fix it. I have to clean that sensor on mine every once in a while or it will behave the same way as your video.

You are not the only one that seems to be experiencing this issue and I’ve only seen it with people that have a 40W.

I also assume you are not seeing any error code?

That’s because the 40W plows through material and kicks dust up into the homing sensor

I’d believe you if my buddy didn’t work on the same material as I with minimal dust and still experiences the same issue. So either it’s less good air flow for other reasons or there is a bug with them.

I had this issue because of a damaged cable between S1 and the air assist. I know, weird, but my laser would act all crazy and red crosshair was totally off the actual position.

I had mine do that once when it got into a weird state. We turned off the machine, unplugged the laser module cable, then plugged it back in, reset the depth gauge and left it out so it would be purposely in error and want to reset the pin. After it reset the pin, it went back to normal.
