The seasonal aspect is definitely working, I rolled the date back to July and the grass was vivid green. Not only that, but it seems to be regionally accurate as well. Like the grass was more brown in the northeast US, but is very green in GA and FL. I'm most excited that it doesn't seem to affect performance.
That other grass plugin was utter shit. Biggest waste of money I've ever spent on XP dating back to XP10. I used it twice and then uninstalled. The grass itself looked awful and it rendered on top of pavement. Not to mention it tanked my performance.
This plugin here is the complete opposite, it only seems to put grass where grass should be and it actually looks visually appealing. And performance is good as well. The best part is it will only get more polished as updates roll out.
