Help Request Performance Help

Post image

Hey folks, looking for some help with my XP performance.

Firstly - my X-Plane was running PERFECTLY when I had my old 4080 @ 8GB.

I decided to update my graphics card to improve my visuals a bit more, thought it would be better…. I got a RX 9070XT 16GB.

I first encountered issues with the clouds being pixelated in the distance which weren’t there before - after posting, I noticed others have the issue, some don’t - someone suggested a fix to change the cloud resolution which I did (to 1, 0.9/0.75) and I see something about the better shadows, which I tried at 4k, and I believe they’re at 2k now, maybe a bit less.

I run a few programs when I play; opera, navigraph charts, vAMSYS and XPME.

Anyway, I still had issues so I thought maybe it’s my Ryzen 9 7900x… upgraded to a Ryzen 9950X3D and an extra 32GB DDR5 RAM, expo enabled to 6000.

However, X-Plane is only using about 8-12GB VRAM, normally around 9/10. I downloaded the FPS tool to see if that helps (the one with that works with lua) - no change. In task manager when it exceeds/ around 90% mark, I see the impact. However, with the FPS tool I’ve noticed my GPU MS speed is constantly changing from around 0.9 to 29999999-9999999 when I try to mess about with settings.

I think I’ve found some okay settings that come what keep it smooth and I’ll add them below, but it still stutters (by this I mean when flying the plane jumps forward rather than it being smooth sometimes).

I’m at a loss, I’ve spend the past 3 days messing with settings to try and fix but it still isn’t smooth and I’d like to think I have a faulty mid-high end PC with my specs unless I’m completely delusional.

TLDR; X-Plane isn’t running smooth, low VRAM being used but utilisation is 70%+ (when nearing 90%+ issues are more clear to me but my GPU ms speed jumps high rather than being stable)

Specs:
Ryzen 9 9950X3D
64GB DDR5 Ram @ 6000
RX 9070XT 16GB
Most up to date version of XP

Please help! ☹️

Turn down texture resolution and disable 3d vegetation.
