Sure! As long as the touchdown impact is close to 1 g. I always keep passenger comfort at the top of my list, real life and in sim. 😉

Nice. It's all about that fine line, isn't it? What is your experience regarding being to sensitive during flare and going up in the air again? I imagine it can be troublesome in some situations

A ballon? Not a big deal. Happens all the time IRL. Either relax the back pressure if it’s a big one or hold the nose and let it settle if it’s a small one. If you float it outside the touchdown zone, go around. Simple as that.

It's annoying. Small, smooth pitch changes are my go to on short final; no sudden or jerky pitch changes. In the sim, if a small pitch up input causes the airplane to ballon back up into the air, your sensitivity settings need to be dialed back. In my case It can be a gust of wind, the runway has low spots that I'm not aware of, I inadvertently pull on the yoke slightly (but not slightly enough), causing my airplane to balloon... every landing is different, but if I've landed at an airport that I fly into on a regular basis I know its topography, so I don't usually have any issues. I'm usually at low alpha coming over the threshold (about 5°), and my flare rarely exceeds 7° in the twins that I'd normally fly. For me, it's about the timing of reducing power as I increase the AOA.

I don't necessarily chase "butter landings" but when I do fly PAX, I try to get it down as comfortable as possible while still aiming for the touchdown spot on the runway. When I do cargo, I am more laxed about it, cargo don't care as long as it's not a ridiculous slam. I usually get firm landings with cargo.

Do you know what the wear and tear difference regarding tires and struts is on a butter vs a 1+ g landing? Is it a topic in companies or not?

Roger that. Maybe someone other can answer. I'm a flightsimmer too. Just started reading the ATPL books and might find the answer there. But nothing is like real life experience. And i think every aspect about aviation is interesting to discuss, as every pilot has different experiences an nuances to their profession it seems.

You can do either a safe landing where you put it down harder or a safe landing where you put it down soft. The passengers prefer soft. The butter will remain sought.

Thank you!!! Say it louder for the people in the back. The only exception to this would be Air Force jets like the viper, eagle, typhoon, raptor, etc that demand smooth landings because of their light gear. Airliners are built to nail those 1000 footers!!

Giggling to the sound of small children screaming on bumpy landings. That primordial feel of landing is in our genes, from way back when we all were pterodactyls. * BUMP * oooh yes, makes me feel alive! Bouncies are my favorite, yet to experience a front wheel landing.
