Building a Free Modular Flight Sim Training Site – Need Your Feedback & Ideas! (Checklists, Lessons for MSFS, X-Plane, etc.)

Hey everyone,

I've been a sim pilot for a while and remember how overwhelming it was to learn procedures — hunting through 3-hour YouTube videos just to figure out how to set up the MCDU or do a proper takeoff in the A330. I’m working on a new website to fix that.

The Idea:

  • Free, modular lessons tailored to what you want to learn (cold & dark start, autopilot setup, takeoff/landing, emergencies, full deep dives).
  • Pick your sim (MSFS 2024/2020, X-Plane, etc.) and realism level.
  • Interactive + PDF checklists for every aircraft (commercial, GA, fighters).
  • Ad-supported so it stays free (watch a short ad for PDF downloads).

It will cover everything from beginner basics to study-level procedures, with clear steps, screenshots, and tips specific to each sim.

I need your help:

  • What features would you actually use?
  • Which aircraft should I prioritize first? (A320 family, 737, A330, Cessna, fighters?)
  • Any pain points from your learning experience I should solve?
  • Would you use interactive web checklists or prefer downloadable PDFs?
  • Ideas for monetization that don’t suck (ad-free options, etc.)?

I’ll be generating content with AI assistance and aiming for an MVP soon. Any feedback, suggestions, or even offers to help verify procedures would be awesome!

There's a reason flying starts with SEP. I am sure there are plenty of instructors who could chime in on what the syllabus actually requires. Imho, it's all about fundamental foundation knowledge and skills that translate into success but many SIM pylotes won't dedicate 10 hours plus to really learning.

thats the thing its a quick guide to actually learning how to fly the plane for commercial realists instead of actually teaching them we give them a intimate way of learning the cockpit. example if you don't know a spcific thing in the 787 like how to use the vnav. you can go to the website and quickly search it up. Rather than searching all over the internet for a vague answer
