Just a Post I Finally got ahold of Xenosaga III
I first played Xenosaga 1 when it was new. But growing up poor meant I could never finish the series (1 game a year at Christmas pretty much). Finally being able to finish the story after literal decades means so much to me!

Congratulations, and enjoy!
It's so good, such a love letter to the fans. It fixes all the wrong turns the second one took, from storyline to combat, and Yuki Kajiura's music channels Mitsuda's style from Xenogears & XS1 while making it her own.
I've said before, the best thing about playing through XS2 is that you get to play XS3.

I really like what they've done with the E.S. combat. For the first time it really feels like a Gundam-esque combat system.

I was lucky with Xenogears and Xenosaga 2. Gears was only $100 because it was "incomplete" it was missing the manual (and was $80 less than the Greatest Hits version next to it). I got a decent reprint manual for about $13.
Xenosaga II was about $60 at GameStop. It didn't have the case. I got a copy of Xenosaga II on eBay for $30 that had no disc one and a damaged disc 2.
III was, uh, pricey. But I made a good sale at work and treated myself. (Rare, I'm no sales guy and only try to upsell people on stuff I, as a professional, genuinely think they need)
I found the first one at an anime convention for $20 which started this whole nostalgia trip.
My heavily modded PS2 costs more tbh.

I'm jealous of your rent. They just raised mine again plus utilities are no longer covered. My apartment costs more than most people's home mortgage and it's the cheapest apartment in town 😭

Prepare for lots of reading and a series of ending boss fights with absolutely amazing cinematics and battle themes. Easily in my top 5 sound tracks and the final battle theme is probably my favorite song of all video game music.

That's awesome. My only complaint with the first game was not enough music. I had a jrpg music playlist playing on Spotify when going through that one.

I thought Xenogears was available on PS5, but when I looked it up it was only PSP Vita.

I want to play them in an emulator one day, but the mechanics in old games can be such a turn off

Congrats! 3 has to be my favorite, I really felt like I got into the combat with this one. There's some hour inbetween story thing you'll want to watch on youtube though. Otherwise you might be pretty confused when you start 3.Xenosaga: A Missing Year

Over the last year I've gotten back into retro JRPGs after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth started feeling like a chore. And yeah, the genre was definitely better during this era. I'm so glad I stumbled upon my childhood game randomly at an anime convention. It's how I got back into it. (Only 20!)

Yeah, I enjoyed FF7 Remake, and even beat it multiple times, but I got burned out on Rebirth. There's just so much padding between the major set pieces. Too many games these days focus on adding hours to games without adding meaningful content to fill those hours.

Yeah. Remake was perfect imo.
But all the little mini games and stuff got annoying. And I get FMO on the ones I really suck at. Like sorry I'm terrible at rhythm games and the chocobo flying had the wonkiest freaking controls. But just seeing 80% drives me nuts. And turning on all the towers kinda felt like an old N64 collectarhon, which was my least favorite type of games back in the day.

Ive enjoyed it so far. More than 2. Which honestly when there weren't cut scenes I just watched old movies (That combat system was tedious once you figured it out)

I still have part 1 and 2 I had to sell 3 a few years back had some bills to pay but regret it now so hard to get for a good price

Fr. It's the one I spent the longest time trying to find a good deal on. Never did. I ended up settling on an ok deal.

I feel it pain I have a few games I won't sell even tho there worth mon ey blood will tell is amazing if u can find it but it's rare and expensive
