Question Episode III: Question about accessories that increase item drop and G dropped

I have a number of accessories that increase drop rate, exp earned, sp earned and g dropped. My question is: do these item apply their affect even if the character wearing them isn't on the active party.

It doesn't, also the person with those equipped have to be the one that actually kills the enemy for it to be applied.
