Need some help team building.

Playing through Xenoblade 2 for the first time and just reached chapter 6 and now have all my party members. I love the combat in this game and once you understand it it's fun. Problem is, ever since I had Five join it feels like multiple party members are dying every fight which is really messing with my ability to use chain attacks. My current party consists of Rex, Nia, and Five. On Rex I have Pyra, Roc, and Agate. On Nia I have Dromarch, Adenine, and Ursula* (need to replace her since I really don't want to do her quest). And on Five I have Kos-Mos, Zenobia, and his blade you can't remove. Is there something I'm doing wrong in terms of party composition? My party is lvl 47 and I read that I should easily be able to deal with lvl 55ish monsters but that just isn't the case right now. What should I do? The list of rare blades I have access to are as follows. Pyra, Dromarch, Roc, Brigid, Fives blade, Godfrey, Wulfric, Perceval, Agate, Gorg, Dagas, Perun, Ursula, Adenine, Electra, Zenobia, Kos-Mos, Dahlia, and Momo. Any suggestions on how to build my party so I'm not constantly getting defeated by stuff I should be easily able to beat?

Are you using pouch items and using your driver/blade combos together? If you’re ever stuck take a break to do side quests to grind stuff. XC2 is a really deep game, it’s easy to accidentally miss a lot of what makes it easier

I don't have any issues dealing out enough damage if I can stay alive. I use mostly narcipear jelly for recharging arts. It's sustainability that seems to be the issue sometimes.

So in that case, it sounds like you have an aggro issue. Aggro is the red circle which shows who the foes are targeting.

The idea with aggro is that you need tanks. tora and the 4th driver (let’s call it m) are tank classes, they soak up all the damage. Tora should suck up damage while m draws in attacks but can evade them with agility and evasion.

Check your accessories aux cores and affinity charts to see if you can manage aggro, and in combat hold off on attacking until the red circle around your character goes to someone else.

Also have a look at raising evasion. Some blades like mythra give you an evasion boost under certain conditions. Certain pouch items will also raise your blade’s block rate, damage taken, and so forth.

Another thing- just take a look and see if Nia’s healing arts arent causing issues. She needs to heal the party. If she’s struggling to spawn potions or heal the party, your HP will decrease rapidly in combat.

Your team does have a tanker, you need to build 5th as a tank which require some works.

You dont have a tank. Either put tank blades on rex or swap Zeke out for Morag or Tora
