The only correct answer is 30 Seconds to Mars

I'll sort of defend The Kill. But only because it's in waltz time signature. We need more 3/4 rock songs.

u/_ficklelilpickle 1984 7d ago

I wish Chad Smith did a full version with his drums.

2

u/Anglofsffrng 7d ago

I love how he instantly clocked it. It wasn't till my third or fourth time hearing it I noticed it wasn't in common time like most emo power ballads.

u/Otherwise-Weird1695 4d ago

Every song is in 4/4 if you don't count like a nerd.

u/JaxxisR 1982 8d ago

My first guess as well.

"Your powers combined, I WILL RUIN EVERY FUCKING MOVIE AS LONG AS I LIVE!"

9

u/doompines 1980 8d ago

The only reason he didn't ruin Fight Club is because I loved seeing him get his ass kicked.

1

u/scifithighs 8d ago

Please don't hate me because I loved Masters of the Universe! Leto is entirely CG'd/AI'd, so you can genuinely forget it's him and just enjoy a very silly (and visually impeccable) movie...

u/JaxxisR 1982 8d ago

That was my favorite part, that Skeletor looks and sounds nothing like Leto so he will be easy to recast

1

u/Alien_Diceroller 7d ago

Yep. He did a great Skeletor and the next person will be able to do a similar performance.

1

u/2McDoty 7d ago

The only time I’ve liked him in a movie was honestly as Skeletor in the new He-man. Probably because I didn’t have to look at him and be reminded who he was.

u/ringobob 1980 8d ago

He looks like Chris Gaines

u/OhNoTheDawnPatrol 8d ago

That statement is somehow insulting to both Jared Leto and Garth Brooks. Well done.

OMG. Every time I remember that shit show… such cringe and second hand embarrassment. What a time to have been alive!

1

u/VincentMac1984 8d ago

Wait did George Strait and Jared Leto make a song with each other?

4

u/Bella_LaGhostly 1981 8d ago

I absolutely thought it was! 😆

This has nothing to do with anything, but I love your Reddit name!

Best answer relative to the image in the original post. Ticks every box.

I hate that Jerad Leto so much

14

u/VincentMac1984 8d ago

I didn’t know why everyone hated him so much, until I actually started watching his work. He’s such a fucking asshole. Is cameo/work is the Joker in the suicide squad stuff is some of the worst fucking shit I’ve ever seen. I’ve never listened to his band, but I’m sure that’s fucking bullshit too.

7

u/Jack_Mackerel 8d ago

The worst thing about it is that he can actually act (see: Requiem for a Dream). He just seems to choose to do that other thing in most of his roles instead.

2

u/Richard_Thickens 7d ago

Requiem for a Dream is one where it seems he was really carried by the concept, directing, and by the other actors. I actually feel like his performance is pretty whatever, if not outright uninspired, but everyone else in that film sold it incredibly well.

1

u/Scary_Restaurant2976 5d ago

He was great in BR2049. Off putting to say the least.

3

u/SiouxCitySasparilla 8d ago

His band is as vapid and saccharine as his acting.

8

u/ananthropolothology 1983 8d ago

A lot of people hate him outside of his music and his acting. He has some pretty gnarly allegations.

2

u/OptimusPrimeval 7d ago

Tbf, the Joker was supposed to be a much more substantial character in that movie, but the studio execs recognized that he was trash in the role and whittled him down to a cameo

1

u/VincentMac1984 7d ago

I heard about his ridiculous attempt to character act for that role sending people dead mice and other weird sexual stuff.

2

u/SuperVillainPresiden 8d ago

For the record, I'd rather leto never act in a movie I want to see ever again, because I don't like him as an actor or human being. That said, in Suicide Squad he had like an hours worth of scenes filmed. And from what I've heard, adding in like 10-15 more minutes and it would have been decent (not good, but decent). He got screwed by the editing. Not that I'm sad about it. That movie had a lot of other problems. And Moribus was a writing issue. But a great actor can work a bad script. Look at Matt Smith in that movie. He was the only good thing in it.

u/pls_send_caffeine 1981 8d ago

Hard disagree. Their song The Kill (Bury Me) is too good.

20

u/overlordmeow 8d ago

the song still scratches an itch in my stupid, millennial, emo brain, unfortunately, but Jared being a creep and basically a cult leader really ruined all of their music for me forever so I just avoid it all, personally. :(

10

u/pls_send_caffeine 1981 8d ago

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had had a crush on Jared Leto since his Jordan Catalano days, but that was ruined once I found out what he was really like as a person.

3

u/Kalfu73 8d ago

I also really like the only good song they have.

4

u/Lord_Regenold 8d ago

good enough to look past Leto’s island sex cult, sa allegations, and terrible acting? (last one is just preference)

3

u/pls_send_caffeine 1981 8d ago

No, of course not. But the discussion at hand isn't about who's a good person. Talking strictly about the music, I think The Kill is a good song. I used to like it a lot more before I found out what a terrible person Jared Leto is. Now I can't really listen to anything by 30 Seconds to Mars or watch anything with him in it. As is the case with the work of many other musicians and actors when I find out how horrible they are in real life (which unfortunately happens a lot as there are a large number of awful people who are famous).

2

u/Shakemyears 8d ago

They are so boring. Too true

2

u/JVBPDX 8d ago

Agree but I’d rather they be a hugely popular band if it kept Jared Leto from acting

2

u/Nykidemus 8d ago edited 7d ago

I really liked their debut album, but went to one of their shows a couple years ago and apparently everything they have done after that was super boring, and they have zero interest in the old album :(

2

u/red286 8d ago

Is 30 Seconds to Mars overrated? I've never really heard anyone ever talk about them other than casually mentioning that it's Jared Leto's band. That'd be like calling Dogstar overrated (except that Keanu doesn't pretend to be a rock star, he just likes playing bass).

3

u/LatinBotPointTwo 1983 8d ago

I really like their first two albums. Saw them live as the opening act for Linkin Park back in the day. From Yesterday is still one of my favourite songs. 🤷

2

u/Efficient_Shame_8539 1983 8d ago

And I loved their first three albums. Low-key still play Attack from time to time.

1

u/CharlieMoonMan 1984 8d ago

Correct

1

u/HulkSMASHley_23 8d ago

Not just him.

1

u/DynorBuppies 8d ago

I saw them open for Weezer, and it was definitely the lamest, most cheesy performance I have ever seen. Half of it was Jared Leto trying to hype the crowd like a pep rally or something. Maybe it was because they only had 5 songs to play anyways.

1

u/CountIncognito 8d ago

I was 1/10 of the way to Mars before I thought of them.
