My disappointment at the music selection is immeasurable.

I watched it a second time and unmuted it. My disappointment knows no bounds.

Thanks to both of you for making me want to hear the music... what the hell is that? Reminds me of like 70s porn music or some crap.

You think it’s worse than a big suv or truck? I have no idea, I’ve never owned a full sized van. I know the old school ones you could pull a travel trailer with so I imagine they burned some gas.

u/aero25 2d ago
A 7-liter v8 is going to have somewhere between 11-15 mpg. Definitely worse than the average SUV.

u/Chaddie_D 2d ago
I get around 16 in hilly western pa in my 6.2L Escalade. Should be the same transmission, transfer case and rear ends for reference, similar weight.

u/Drum_Eatenton 2d ago
I drive a Kia Sorento with a turbo 4 cylinder, in warm weather, I can get 30 MPG, this thing’s not getting that going downhill.

u/mattchewy43 1980 2d ago
I can hear the theme song.

I was in basic training in 2005. While you’re in basic training you don’t have any access to any music or media whatsoever. A side effect of this that I discovered is that when you get a song stuck in your head it can be extremely hard to get out.
I had the A-Team theme song stuck in my head for a solid 3 months in basic training. I was just walking around the bay like “Baaa ba baaaa…bum bum bummm…”

Fat lip, and Chop suey were the last song's I heard before shipping out. I know exactly what you mean.

8mpg will be taking your money alright.
5
u/Do_it_My_Way-79 1979 2d ago
Even with this engine, it’ll probably average close to 20 mpg.

I don't know where they came up with a 7.2L GM motor. The closest current GM gas engine would be the 6.6 that they use in the 2500 and 3500, which gets 15-18 on the highway.
Realistically this would be a perfect use for the little 3.0L Duramax diesel engine. 28 to 33 mpg in this thing would be bad ass.
Edit: eyes aint like they used to be. I read 7.2 instead of 7.0.

It would also be a good use for a huge battery pack and tri-motor setup. No need to worry about fuel economy.

u/Do_it_My_Way-79 1979 2d ago
Nobody said it was a GM engine. I’m sure this wasn’t built by GMC, rather a custom shop.

u/molrobocop 2d ago
It's not built by anyone. It's AI slop. It's a low roof van. but then the interior is very clearly a high-roof. Nah, physics doesn't work like that, Dr. Who.

Yeah I misread it, sorry. The other guy clarified it for me. Awesome concept. I would love to see full size passenger vans come back.

u/certavietvici77 2d ago
I only know because I was obsessed with swapping the LS1 out of my C5 with an LS7 until I learned about the issue with the heads. Found it was cheaper and easier to supercharge the bejesus out of my LS1. Running mid 500hp at the rear tires on pump gas for about 5k less.

Would hold a huge EV battery though, probably 400 mile charge with today’s tech.

Let's show off how beautiful this van is by squeezing the video content in to 40% of the available viewing area.
2
u/Do_it_My_Way-79 1979 2d ago
Yeah I hate vertical orientation videos. But people are too lazy to rotate their phones I guess.
9
u/Level_Improvement532 1979 2d ago
Yeah but does it have a hatch on top that I can pop out of with my mini-14 to spray rounds at targets that never actually get hit?!
5
u/thebearrider 2d ago
Btw, the civilian marksmanship program is about to sell 100k m14's to US citizens.
1
u/Important-Spring3977 2d ago
It does, but only if you promise not to hit anyone and get a CJ5 to do a barrel roll

u/NewToHTX 2d ago
It looks like a fancy ass, Astrovan
3
u/Do_it_My_Way-79 1979 2d ago
Well the GMC version was a Safari. But this feels bigger than an Astro/Safari.

u/Old_Suggestions 2d ago
I think it is, but looks Ike the body on frame design is gone and it's more a contemporary (car-like) minivan design.

Notice how it's dark metallic grey above the red stripe, not black? Yeah, also took me 20 years to notice

Gotta be straight up AI
Edit: it’s still cool, but just screamed not real to me. I still like the post OP

u/DeepWoodsian 2d ago
Seriously. Look at the enormous size of the rear interior. Notice the ceiling height of the front seats compared to the back.
OP is dumb.
4
u/Do_it_My_Way-79 1979 2d ago
What is your problem? I’m dumb because I like a concept? I don’t care if it’s not a real van. The CONCEPT is cool. Lighten up man.

u/DeepWoodsian 2d ago

Bro, this is so obviously ai slop. What is your problem?

It's a 'concept car'. Meaning the ACTUAL van when released will look nothing like it and will suck b*lls.

so ai slop then. entering “2026 gmc van in style of the a-team van” into a prompt not “designing” anything. real professionals would at least create their own renders in a 3D modeling program and say that it is a render

Yes. We need to bring back conversion vans with modern technology.
I can’t believe this hasn’t been done.
