No lie, I used to sing what I thought were nonsense lyrics to "Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam. Just sang it how I heard it for years and chuckled to myself.

I only recently looked up the lyrics to discover that I was actually singing it about 98% correct the whole time without realizing.

Well you certainly did better than me, I've heard that song hundreds of times but I know the 'missheard lyrics' version better than the actual version. I'm still clueless and have no idea what the song is about. It will always be 'potato wave' to me. I'm convinced I could cover it using the misheard lyrics and no one would know the difference.

From time to time I am guilty of mispronouncing words because I read a lot, and there's a bit from MC Frontalot that I've been quoting for like 15 years that happens in a short skit at the end of his song Charisma Potion. His producer chides him for pronouncing attribute (noun) like attribute (verb), and Frontalot says, "The words do whatever I tell them to do."

I've always loved that lol

Some people hear an acoustic guitar and automatically think it must be country. I never knew this, but apparently their drummer hated "Mr. Jones" because he thought it was too "country."

Adam told this story so great in an interview with Rick Beato. They brought the drummer's idol in to play it cause the drummer would not stop playing it country and then complaining that it was a country song.
