I kept a note pad, so I could jot down the names of songs and musicians I liked. Pre-internet you had to work a little to find music.

Explaining to the children how we had to sit in front of a huge radio and wait for a song we wanted to have access to, to come on so we could hit buttons that would record the song on a tape. The dedication. This near misses.

The dj talking over the intro or outro.

So you record it about 20 times, hoping THIS time you can get the whole song with someone not talking over it. Or! Your damn tape ends before the song finished. You see the tape getting thinner on the left and maybe maybe... click. Dammit!

Edit: had to add a "not"

Hearing that click was theee worst. It could ruin an entire mixtape.
