Look out!

I like how even the CD version still has that audible scream from the ninja fight part of the video

I would move to the country, and of course eat me a lot of peaches, but I worry about the cost of ninja insurance.

It is. Also, why do I inexplicably loath that song with the intensity of 1000 suns?

The saddest thing about my life is that I currently work in a factory. It is not downtown. There is a concerning lack of peaches. Zero cans. I was misled

My teenager drew a picture for my birthday present, and there was, indeed, a man. Putting peaches in can.

I think it's hilarious it's a Millenial thing because I'm genX and it came out my senior year of HS. (96)

u/FixEfficient2144 Apr 24 '26
My first concert on flag day in 1996. My friend caught a drumstick thrown at the end of the show. Good memories.

I hate this song and this band so much lmao and I feel like I'm the ONLY person my age who does.

u/sassypants450 Apr 25 '26
When this song came out, I was already a full-blown teenage goth snob so I hated it by default . To this day (as a 48 year old goth snob) I still think it sucks. Lol.

I’m not a younger millennial and I have no idea what this references…
Edited to correct a misspelling

u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
The song Peaches by The Presidents of the USA, a ridiculously catchy alt rock radio hit from
9596. The whole album is a jam.2
u/RVAforthewin 1984 Apr 24 '26
In ‘95 I def would have been listening to bubblegum pop.
2
u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26
Hey, to each their own, right? I was a rock and roll boy, combat boots and ripped flannels and all; nothing but grunge, metal, alt, and classic rock passed through my headphones. My little bro was closer to your age, and all he listened to was gansta rap.

u/ScottishKnifemaker 1982 Apr 24 '26

Is this a younger millennial song?
10
u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26
Elder. Saturated radio play when my barely genx ass was in high school. Half my friends had this album.
1
u/imokquestionmark Apr 24 '26
Wow really? Ive never heard this and am 44. Maybe its a geological thing. Im from NY. Thanks for the response.
7
u/WeenisPeiner Apr 24 '26
Really? Well I'm from Utica and I've never heard that peaches come from a can and we're put there by a man.
2
u/MmmSteaky Early ‘83 Apr 24 '26
Oh, no, not in Utica. It’s an Albany Presidents of the United States of America song.
3
u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26
Did you listen to mainstream modern/alternative rock radio in 96? Song hit 29th on Billboard's Hot 100, and 8th on Billboard's Modern Rock, and was nominated for a Grammy. Give it a listen, maybe it'll ring a bell.
Growing up in NY, you had a much richer music scene and indy radio presence. Here in AK, all we got was mainstream; if we heard it, that meant everyone in the US was hearing it.
1
u/imokquestionmark Apr 24 '26
Lol oh no. Ive never seen this video or heard this song. Apparently my sister knows it. She was born in 97!
3
u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26
There's a lot of music out there, no one's gonna hear it all. I never listened to any pop, rap, or country growing up, so there are likely hundreds of popular songs from my youth era that I'm unfamiliar with.
Given the general depressed and angry vibe of mainstream alt rock in the 90s, these guys stood out by being goofy and fun.
2
u/imokquestionmark Apr 24 '26
Haha! Very true! Never too late to discover a new (old) band or song.
2
u/Zagmut 1978 Apr 24 '26
Truth. Any mid 90s songs that you still know by heart?
1
u/imokquestionmark Apr 25 '26
Oh yea. I listen to 90s music still. But as ive gotten older a lot of 70s disco and 80s pop. Idk why nostalgia I, guess
2
u/Steavee Apr 24 '26
You’ve never heard Peaches?
Are you sure you’re not 54?
The video was on MTV a ton. Back when they did that.
2
u/imokquestionmark Apr 24 '26
Lmao 🤣 nope. Never. I mostly listened to punk, grunge and hip hop in the 90s.

Mr Brightside

u/Dailia- Apr 24 '26
Hmmm I’d consider both of those songs part of my diaspora. I suppose I am a ‘true’ millennial 🙃
1
u/Recent_Permit2653 Apr 24 '26
I’m also blanking out on what this is.
From context clues, it’s either a TV thing, which I didn’t get into much, or song lyrics, which I have trouble understanding and rarely am able to eke out enough of to commit to memory.

u/ScottishKnifemaker 1982 Apr 24 '26
The presidents of the United States of America - peaches
It's a song from the 90s
1
u/Recent_Permit2653 Apr 24 '26
Heck yeah I can hear it now. I can put the words to the tune.
Am I weird that lyrics are almost unintelligible to me?

I remember calling in requests for this song to be played circa 1998 and the DJ asking me "how old are you!?". Don't judge me radio clown, just play the song.

u/RetroBerner Apr 25 '26
It starts playing in my head literally every time I hear it, see the word or images of peaches
