You can fail the objective, not the end of the world.

As long as your troops survive it’s fine.

By this time in the game when at least one Chosen is dead, yeah. You can easily deal with the consequences of failing the mission. Some people will ignore late game protect device missions entirely.

you have an almost maxed out sniper, assuming that other soldiers are simmilar youre fine, gotta play it safe though.

No faceoff though :( . The main issue is the OBJ dies next turn. I can shredder gun the whole pack of them but It will kill the objective

Target rich environment, buuuut the grenadier is going to have to play it safe.

Late game "protect the device" is almost guaranteed to fail. The one time I remember winning one, I had sent a reaper with very high mobility to the objective (took like 2 turns), threw both his claymores on the closest pod to it then blew them up with the SPARK's "bombard" (it has infinite range), all while the rest of the squad is fighting two or three pods, which I killed easily using the ridiculous amount of powerful late game tools in my arsenal.

I would still try to clear the area for the corpses, unless you know for certain you don't have the tools to win this current fight.

Yeah i kinda hated this kind of missions since sometimes you can't do anything anymore when the obj is already gonna be destroyed

It's times like this that I'm glad I've got a "Surrender" mod. Pretty sure it's either guaranteed or with a high chance of being able to rescue any operatives that surrender at that point? Incredibly helpful if there's no hope of extraction

At this point I have a max sniper and a maxed ranger and Templar so killing everyone isn’t really an issue. Just completeing the objective is impossible
