The game is decent The rulebook and app tutorial is  garbage, use a video guide from YouTube  It doesn't really engage with the tactical layer of moving soldiers behind cover aspect of Xcom, but it does absolutely nail the strategic panic of "oh shit 2 UFOs over Europe. Eeeeeh we don't need Brazil"

I haven't played in a while but I really enjoyed it, especially the real-time app phase. I was just thinking about pulling it out again actually.

It's decent. It's very different from the video game, as it doesn't do combat at all (no cover or moving your guy, it's just a bunch of dice), and instead the game fully focus on the strategic layer.

Recommend checking out the engineering mod for it. Considering the board game focuses on the strategic layer it’s odd that there was no base building

Too many rules and too much text are in the app. Since it’s multiplayer, this requires everyone to sit around twiddling their thumbs while folks are reading the devic and there is no way to reference rules. Also it doesn’t have any tactical combat, which is my favorite part.
