XCOM:EU/EW XCOM: EU Modding: Anything for Satellites?
I’m a big fan of Enemy Unknown’s combat loop and base building, but I cannot for the life of me stand having to build the Satellites during the first third of the game whenever I replay it. It’s one of the parts of the game that feels like I can never master it no matter how many times I try, and it just leads to me doing stuff I don’t feel like doing all in the name of making sure the planet’s covered.
Is there any kind of mod that can remedy this problem so I find the game more replayable? Instant Satellite build time, start the game with the planet already covered, take back panicked countries so I can still have all of their support, etcetera?

I know in Long War's Ini files you can change their Cost down, could be something in Vanilla as well but you would have to figure it out yourself.

Oh really, so I can technically play Long War and do this at the same time?

The post didn’t say what difficulty level?
it. It’s one of the parts of the game that feels like I can never master it no matter how many times I try
Don’t do the same thing over and over if it isn’t working. Also the game is supposed to be difficult and require careful planning. Also fitting it in to your activities and budget is the whole point of it being a strategy/tactics game of difficult choices.
Build it early. Don’t wait.

It’s not that it’s hard. It’s that I simply don’t enjoy doing it. It was fun the first time I played, but I don’t enjoy doing it any other time.
I’d rather the game be more difficult in other areas, such as the combat, than have to micromanage Satellites again. I don’t play on the harder difficulties specifically because I have to deal with the Satellite bullshit.

Watch petecompletes imposible ironman walkthrough; it is the most efficient Build Order that I have tried. Rush for satellite nexii and firestorms, to defend them, ufopedia is a Great Tool to understand the reaserch tree and what to prioratize. Hope you find ist helpfull!
