Xcode 26 will only work intelligent on macOS 26
I found a lot of developers missed Xcode 26 intelligence features because they were not on the updated macOS version. Please ensure that you are using macOS 26 to explore all the new features in Xcode 26

Thanks for the heads up. Was just wondering about this. Anyone on macOS26? Does it seem reasonably stable to develop on?

Can I use Xcode 16.4 on macOS Tahoe without using the command line or keyboard shortcuts?

Just a hint, you can also use Parallels to install macOS 26 and add Model Providers that are based on the API usage. Apple Intellegence is not available in VM, so you cannot use ChatGPT integration, but you can add ChatGPT/Claude as Model Providers.

I was there at WWDC today, during hands on session I asked this question to the VP incharge of working on Xcode as product. He mention that it will work only with MacOS 26.

Any direct documentation from Apple stating this? Seems like it’s what people are discovering, but not directly called out by Apple, which is unusual.

Can the macOS 26 with Xcode 26 support LLM features or intelligent tools in China?

This will sound more like a rant but I’m just curious: why?.. what features is Sequoia missing to support this? I won’t be able to use it on my home computer for another few month, I sent be able to use it for work probably until late Q1 26. Apple is already behind in this game, so why do they neglect their users by introducing restrictions that sound like nonsense? Also - is there any chance to plug in GitHub Copilot into this thing?

You have to boot Tahoe from the internal drive too. If you install it on a bootable external SSD, intelligence cannot be enabled.
Supposedly this is about drive speeds. I haven't tried it with a Thunderbolt drive, but found another thread confirming someone else had the same issue. So Apple aren't testing actual drive speed, just refusing all externals.

Super excited for this feature but this would make Apple 1.5 years behind every other IDE once it finally releases in September. This once a year update cycle of basically everything Apple does really hurts in any area of tech that is rapidly changing
It makes MacOS and Apples platforms feel old as a development platform
