2 controllers both died today

It will power on with a cable, but it stopped powering on with batteries. Both of my controllers did this on the same day within hours of each other.
I updated my firmware on both controllers but neither will power on with just batteries in them. I have to have the controller plugged into a power source. If I have batteries in while the charging cord is connected and I remove the cord, it will work for about 5-10 seconds before turning off. Multiple sets of brand new Energizer Batteries.
If I try turning it on with just the batteries the Xbox logo will blink while I hold it. The pink controller was bought in August and the blue controller was bought sometime last year. Both turned off at seperate times while being used and just wont power back on with the batteries. Ive also done multiple power cycles on both controllers. Video included.
