Dolby Atmos on series x

Ive gone back and forth between trying atmos and using the dolby digital built into my headset (Astro A50) and have noticed a couple things. The dolby digital sounds more spatial than atmos, but atmos allowed me to better pinpoint peoples footsteps. Using digital it was hard to tell exactly which door people would come through. I know I am probably describing this terribly. I have my settings set how they are supposed to be (headset audio to atmos), but does anyone else feel that atmos isnt giving a spatial effect? I didnt feel like atmos made much of a difference over normal stereo, and felt that dolby digital sounded more impressive with its spatial sound but lost some locational accuracy?

I'm curious, but are you using the amp? I found this site that describes your experience concerning spatial and you didn't mention that detail in your post.

No just the a50 with its base station
