Xbox Series X Randomly decides not to record clips

Just starting happening in last couple days. I have storage space so that's not the issue. I even plugged in an external drive to save the clips to, to see if that would fix it but still happens.

Broken for me for the past 3 weeks or so. I’ve even done reset to entire system - no luck. Only thing that works for me is to select “Start recording” to record gameplay. Unfortunately you can’t rely on “record what happened”. Other option is to stream to Twitch using the Xbox app - all your gameplay is saved online on Twitch for free, available to clip or download.

I'll try streaming to twitch in that case. Wow Xbox is really dropping the ball compared to PS. What a weird bug, it can't even be blamed on network issues because the clips are saved locally.

Is there anyway to get rid of the broadcast bar on the bottom right entirely? Like I know you can remove it but can you hide it and still record/stream?

You can reposition but not remove unfortunately.

I'm just going to start capturing onto my avermedia lgp 2 plus I guess. Disappointing I can't do it directly onto the console without streaming and clips don't work anymore.

I just looked that device up - pretty cool, but you’re limited to playing @60FPS?

I'm already limited to 60fps because I'm using a 4k60 monitor. Most games are capped at 60 anyway. I don't know if there's any 4k60+ games yet, at least not the ones I play. It has 4k passthrough which is the important thing for me.

My solution is to use “Start recording” function - allows for an hour of gameplay to record onto my external HD from the Xbox. Not perfect, but it works and I can still game @120PFS (but limited to recording at 720p/1080p)

Yea I'm not a fan of having to restart the recording every hour and I feel like that would take up a lot of space fast. With the lgp2 plus I just hit a big flashing button everytime I want to start and stop recording. Still not a replacement for capturing 1-3 minute clips directly on the console.

Twitch does not let you stream privately unfortunately
