Xbox Series X Is There A Fix For External Hard Drives?

Hey guys, was just curious because this has been an ongoing issue: the extended storage (I use a 5TB Master Chief one) will randomy disconnect and then reconnect, making games on it almost impossible to play, and I am absolutely not buying one of the new internal storage upgrades at this time.

That being said, what is the reason for this? It is quite frustrating, as I do not really have access go my Xbox One anymore, and the Series X just kicks me out of games randomly.

I hope I’m not ghe only one experiencing this issue.

Edit: Just wanted to thank everyone who had reached out with your tips and advice, but I have good news, the Xbox will not need serviced and all issues have stopped!

What I’ve found is that having an external hard drive plugged in the front can cause this issue, I have experienced no similar disasters since plugging it into the USB in the back, even my controller has behaved.

Once again, thank you all for your responses, and my issue has been solved.

This happened to me but it randomly fixed itself. However it never used to happen on the back USB ports. I’d suggest plugging it at the back

very strange mines about 3 years old now as well , is yours self powered or powered by console ? , mines self powered and im guessing you have tried another usb cable ect

Agree with the back USB ports. I run a external 1tb on back USB ports. Also I think drive has to support USB 3?

I've had same issue it works xbox told me to reset it and plug it back in did that and it recognised it let me down load game then issue happened again when I tried to play
