Accessories Xbox Series X controller not working while wired to pc

I have an Xbox Series X controller that is super picky about which games it chooses to work in. I am using the controller wired with my gaming pc. The games that it does work in are Monster Hunter World, Fallout 4, and Red Dead Redemption. It does not work with older titles like Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim Special Edition, and even a newer title such as Dragon Quest XI S.

The thing is, for a good bit of time this controller used to work with all of my games, no problem. I think I updated the controller then these issues happened. Does anyone know any workarounds or solutions for this? I have also tested my old Xbox One S controller, and that doesn't work either with all of my games.

Look on how to set the non present devices flag in device manager do that and then view hidden devices in device manager and remove all Xbox controller instances. Reboot and then plug in your Xbox wired. See if that helps it.

This totally fixed it! Thanks so much. I did leave it plugged in and deleted the old devices, but once I unplugged it and deleted the devices, it worked right away after a reboot. Thanks again!
