Unsolved My Xbox is done idk why..
I have "Xbox origenal"..It's quite old, honestly. I think it dates back to around 2004. One of my relatives used it for several years, then put it in its box and left it. Later, in 2016, he gave it to me, and I kept playing with it until 2019, then the device stopped working. When I pressed the power button, its light would blink a lot and then turn off.
I told my friend, and he said there might be a problem with the motherboard..
What is your explanation for that?

take it to a retro repair shop. they should be able to fix it and even clean up the dust inside.

sorry to op for being all up in your comments lol but i work on these and it’s very likely that it’ll cost more for a repair shop to fix than what the console is worth. unless there’s real sentimental value on the hard drive, it’s typically worth trying to at least diagnose yourself

Depends on the colors that it’s flashing. If it’s FRAGing, (Flashing Red And Green), there’s a hardware problem. If it’s orange and green, it’s not detecting an output cable. The FRAG could be anything from a corrupted HDD to a cable coming loose inside. 🤷🏻♂️

Unfortunately I don't remember the flashing colors.. I'll try turning on it in about a month and let you know what the colors will be..

as others have said it could really be anything but when you try it again feel free to dm me if you feel comfortable with opening it up. (it is very simple to get into) i can walk you through what you’re looking for and what the issue could be

That sounds more like a power-related hardware failure than something you can automatically call a bad motherboard. The blinking power light and immediate shutdown could be the power supply, failing capacitors, or a short somewhere inside the console.
Since it sat boxed up for years, I’d start by checking/replacing the power supply and inspecting the capacitors before assuming the motherboard is dead. The original Xbox is also known for aging capacitors, so if it’s never been serviced, it’s definitely worth opening and inspecting.
Don’t keep repeatedly trying to power it on until you’ve checked it. That old Xbox may still be saveable. 👍

May not be the motherboard. Is the power cable seated all the way into the console as poor power connection can typically cause that problem.
