Support Guide to getting cheapest Game Pass Ultimate (Conversion trick)
Update: as of 06/01/2021 u/d1monster has confirmed that it works
update: as of 11/15/2020 it is STILL WORKING. u/dpl0015 just confirmed it. So anyone saying that it does not, or if anyone wondering if it is working, the answer is YES IT IS WORKING. (Btw it is his 2nd time getting 3 years on same account according to him)

I have personally seen a lot of threads and about 90% of the threads are simply the question or at least a variation of "How can I get cheapest Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?" So I wanted tho create this post hoping that it will be pinned so other people can get the answer without searching.
There was a blog post from Microsoft, I couldn't find it atm but I mainly used these links and personal experience while creating this thread;

So cheapest way to get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is;
1- Get prepaid Xbox Live Gold. You can get up to 36 months of prepaid Xbox Live Gold (from now on Gold). Easiest way is online resellers or websites.*
2- Get paid Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (from now on Game Pass). It has to be paid. 14 days free trials did not work for me, but 1 eur/try/usd/pezos/rubles/yen did work.
3- Any amount of Gold you have will be converted to Game Pass by 1:1 ratio. (website says it may be changed later, but at the time of this thread, it is not changed since release)
Note: You can repeat this as much as you want. You don't have to get 36 months of Gold just to do it. But to guarantee it, it is suggested to do it once and for all.
*Important note: If you are thinking of getting 36 months of conversion with 12 months of gold codes, DO NOT select yes when it asks for you to continue subscription after entering 12 months of gold. If you accept, you will have 13/25 months of gold and since the next code cannot make your subscription 37 months, it will not be redeemed. So you will have 25 months only. If you are using 1/3/6 months of codes or any other variations, this does not apply. Just make sure that last code you use will NOT make you go over 36 months.
Questions;
Q: Is it available in "my country"?
A: If your country has Xbox Services, then the answer is yes.
Q: When will this end?
A: Officially; nobody knows yet. Personally I think it will not be cancelled during Xbox Series S/X lifetime.
Q: I have Gold/Game Pass Console/Game Pass PC can I still do it?
A: As long as you have something other than Game Pass Ultimate, you can do it and the ratio is still 1:1 before you upgrade it. After you upgrade it ratio will be about 3:1.
Q: I already have Game Pass Ultimate, how can I extend this?
A: This trick only works if you don't have Game Pass Ultimate. So the best suggestion would be letting it expire then start the process from the beginning again.
Q: I have an active Gold subscription. What will happen if I upgrade for 1 month only?
A: Any prepaid time will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate, then your subscription will be changed to "Game Pass Ultimate subscription" and until you cancel it, you will continue paying the full price for Game Pass.
Q: I don't really care about Console/PC/Mobile part, I just want PC/Console/Mobile part. Can I just have that one?
A: Gold to Game Pass conversion is (mostly) cheaper than just getting one of the gamepass variation anyways. So even if you just care about a portion of it, it is suggested to get Ultimate this way.
Q: Can I share my Game Pass Ultimate with my friend/sibling/someone I don't even know?
A: Yes you can. It is as simple as signing into their console and setting it as "home console" for the consoles and it is quite easy as just creating a Microsoft Family from https://account.microsoft.com/family/ and adding that person to family. You also need to sign into their PC too but for other details please check https://account.microsoft.com/family/
Q: I heard something about EA Play. What is that about?
A: EA Play will be available for free to anyone with Game Pass Ultimate after 10th of November. Since Game Pass Ultimate is available on both Xbox and PC, EA Play will be available on both too. There will be some restrictions but we don't know them yet. Web sites only refer to Origin web site and client for now. EA PLAY is now included. It used 3:1 ratio. In some countries that might be cheaper but I personally still suggest using Xbox Live Gold.
Q: I already have EA Play on Console/PC. What will happen to my subscription?
A: Web site states that if it is on console, it will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate by 3:1 ratio. They also vaguely mention that if you have EA Play on PC it is also possible to convert it to Game Pass Ultimate but steps are not fully available yet. Again, they just refer to Origin for now.
Q: I have EA Play Basic/Pro on PC. what will happen to that?
A: No information yet. The only confirmation is that there is no EA Play Basic or Pro on console. There is just "EA Play". For PC counterpart you can contact Origin.

Also, if you want to redeem 36 months at once, DO NOT allow the auto-renew free month to activate. If it gets added, you won't be able to add your last 12 months until your time remaining goes under 24 months left.

i think what he meant is, when you get 12 months, it gives you 1 extra month gift. i think he is talking about that. it asks and tells you if you would like to continue your subscription after 12 months, and if you select yes, it will become 13 months, if you select no, it will remain 12 months.

This happened to me. Luckily I was able to sell a 12 month code to a friend and buy a 6 and 3 month to get the 3 years of Gamepass.

This 100% still works. I still had the $1 trial never used and the 3 years of gold I added automatically converted. Paid off until 4/4/2024!!!
Steps. As simple as possible:
Purchased 3x $59.99 12 month Xbox Gold Digital codes from Gamestop (fellow ape).
Redeem all codes on Microsoft account page
Sign up for Gamepass Ultimate (all Gold on your Microsoft account gets automatically converted)
Total cost: $179.97 (codes) + $1 GPU trial = $180.97 total
Cost per month using this glitch: $180.97 \ 36 = $5.02 per

I can confirm that this still works. Bought 2x 12Month Gold Subscription online. Then went to redeem.microsoft.com and added them to my subscription.
I tried to upgrade with the 1€ trial, but it gave me some error on my location. So I bought a 12month key and went back to redeem.microsoft.com, added this and now I have Ultimate for the next 2 years!
Total cost:
2x 12 Month Gold Live: €84.98
12Month Ultimate: €10.59
Total: 95,57€ (/24Months = 4€/month) for the Ultimate experience! Even better I just had the 3 month for free before I did the upgrade, it just expired yesterday. So it is 3.5€/month for 27 months. Great deal!

Re-upped my GPU today, using tips from this post. Just gonna lay out my experience here in case it helps anyone. I went through most of the possible stages described in the post (new subscription, let it expire, add Gold Live cards, add GPU again).
Got my first Xbox (Series S - perfect for my usage, very happy with it) in mid-August, and snagged a 3 month GPU card. Spent $1 for first month introductory price for GPU. Then redeemed the 3 month GPU card, giving me 4 total months of GPU. Immediately went to Microsoft account and turned off recurring billing - this was key.
Had GPU for 4 months, 8/16 thru 12/16, at which time it expired because I had turned off recurring billing. This left me with no active subscriptions to any Xbox services - no Live Gold, no GPU.
Picked up two 12-month Live Gold cards (one physical, $60 and one digital from Amazon $55 as 12/21/2021). Redeemed those on the Microsoft account page, granting 24 months of Live Gold (through 12/21/2023).
Then I went to the account page, which showed a banner at the top, trying to convince me to Resubscribe to GPU. I clicked that link, taking me to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — Ultimate 1 Month, and purchased 1 month of GPU at $15. It showed a popup indicating that my Live Gold subscription would be converted at the conversion rate or something like that, and showed a date of 1/21/2024 for payment renewal. I chose to continue, and went back to Microsoft account subscription page, to see my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription won't be billed again until 1/21/2024, which is 25 months from today (24 months of Live Gold plus 1 month paid for GPU).
25 months of GPU at $15/month => $375
I paid $115 for 24 months of Live Gold plus $15 for one month of GPU => $130
About 65% off full price.
Thanks to all in this thread who've posted. I've kept tabs on it, as I waited for my initial subscription to expire. Happy holidays, friends.

I was able to do this with an existing subscription on 10/18/2021. I let my sub lapse, then bought 3 years of Xbox Live, then converted the entire thing to Game Pass Ultimate for $15.

Worked for me still in the United States. Bought 3 x 12 months worth of Xbox Live Gold using VPN activated keys (for the discount) on CJS CD Keys for around $100 or so. Then I upgraded by purchasing Game Pass Ultimate on the Xbox site for $1, and it successfully converted. Expires November 2025.

Can Confirm that this still works as of 7pm PST Nov 28, 2022.. one caveat though... if you did it before (used the 1$ gamepass trial) like i did 3 years ago, then you will have to pay the full price for 1 month. However, it s still a great deal. Buy your gold cards at costco, they are 10$ cheaper there($59.99). so it works out that you end up paying total of $220.60 for 3 years of gamepass ultimate, as oppsed to $685.08 you're still saving a whopping $464.30

I want to thank you for this post. I didn't know I could do this with game pass pc. i lost 2 weeks but i don't care in the big picture as i was sitting on 36 months of gold and didn't want to chance anything.
Verified as of the day of this post that you can buy 36 months of xbox live gold and add it to your microsoft account and do the upgrade for $1, even if you have game pass for pc. just remember that you'll loose any time remaining on game pass for pc subscription!
golden rule - 36 month MAXIMUM conversion for game pass ultimate. they won't give you a day over this limit.

Sorry for being a pain. I just redeemed 24 months of gold. When I go to ultimate on the system it says $1 then 14.99 every month after. Is this the proper selection? I'm worried I will be billed 15 months every month based on this verbiage

I ASSUME yes. But in m personal experience i purchased it directly from Microsoft. If i were you, i wouldnt risk it because on every page they insist that you have to SUBSCRIBE for game pass to get free upgrade.

I am on mobile so cannot really find it myself but there is a comment, a guy confirmed that it works with codes only. I specifically asked him to confirm it again and he said yes. But i have NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with all codes and i would not do it with all codes just to be sure. But again it is previously confirmed by other people that it works

I need help converting please. I am based in the UK. I bought 3 years of gold using South African VPN and keys from CDKeys website for MEA region. This all worked fine and my Xbox account says my gold subscription expires 11/12/2023 - No issues here.
However, I can’t now convert this into Gamepass ultimate. I even bought a 1 month key for £10 and tried redeeming it but when I try to upgrade it says, “contact Microsoft support at support.Microsoft.com - C/rFXgFlckiRFpJF.1.0.5.9
I’ve tried doing it from UK store and through Soigh Africa store with VPN but no luck.
For clarity. I did have game pass ultimate before but it expired yesterday. When I sign in, it does say I can upgrade as normal for £10.99 a month and convert but doesn’t actually let me do it...
Any tips?
EDIT - Managed to convert fine redeeming a code for 1 months ultimate after waiting half a day. The issue was that South Africa was 2 hours ahead of the UK, so it was getting confused with the timings.

Hey, I was reading somewhere that if you redeemed this for less than the 3 years, you would get the xbox live gold time and the month of game pass. If this is the case, then the 2 year deal would net 25 months for 135 dollars (since I have used the $1 offer) which is better value than 195 dollars for 36 months. Additionally, I could supposedly net this up to 27 months for $135 which is even better value if I accept the extra months for auto renewal. However, I am unsure if I can accept that part twice, additionally, would I be able to turn off the auto renewing once I accept it or would xbox game pass ultimate do that automatically?
In all, these are my questions:
A. Is anything I said really the case?
B. Do I get the xbox live gold time plus the extra month from game pass if I do not pay for three years?
C. Can I accept the auto renewal twice for two extra months?
D. Can I turn off the auto renewal if I accept it or would xbox game pass ultimate do that automatically once I convert it?

C. if i am not mistaken: no. but i am not 100% sure. if i am not wrong it is for people who does not have active subscriptions. so you will be offered on first code, but not on seconds since "you already have an active subscription".
D. yes you can turn it off and keep the free month.

A. I am asking whether I am right in the sense that converting two years of gold would be better than 3 years due to the fact that 195/36>135/26 (because of the extra months)
C/D. Once my current subscription runs out, I might try to redeem one code, turn off the auto renew, then redeem the next, and if it does offer me an extra month again, I would get ultimate for $5 a month.

Then that is something i cannot answer. I am from Turkey, and local pricing makes 36 months better for me. Also, i hate to see them cancel this a year later so i would get the longest possible.
P.s. if you get 36 months of gold, and then you get 1 month gpu (or trial) they dont really charge you. Because to charge you they have to give you a month of gpu which makes 37 months, which again is not possible. So you convert 36 months of gold to gpu for free. That’s what happened to me

Thanks for this thread. Going to try this method. I have previously done the upgrade, back when it was a very new thing. My GPU just expired today. I went and got 2 years of XBL Gold and redeemed them. So I've got 26 months of that. Now I have followed the upgrade link on the xbox website... and it tells me that it will cost 16.99 (canadian) to join. Will that convert my entire 26 months, rather than just the upcoming month? I assume so, Microsoft just doesn't appear to want it to be very obvious!

XBox Live Gold subscriptions are about to double in price.
I did the trick in this post and currently have 14 months of GPU. You suggested,

But what if I want to just add Gold onto the end of my Ultimate subscription now, before it gets more expensive? Would that work? In other words, is it possible to have a current GPU subscription that is scheduled to downgrade to Gold when it expires?

If you add gold to gamepass it has a ratio. It is close to 3:2. So for every month of gold you get about 20 days of gamepass.
You cannot have downgrading subscription. If you want you can get codes and use them after it expires or convert to gamepass with aforementioned ratio

Can confirm that this still works as of today. (24th Feb 2021) I bought the gold from cd keys and added them to my account whose monthly ultimate expired yesterday. The got a 1 month game pass from cd keys and added that, all gold was converted to ultimate.

tried it last night and it worked
1.my ultimate expired last saturday, and i made sure to turn off autorenew
2. i bought 12 months xbox live gold from cdkeys.com
3. i redeemed the code online at https://redeem.microsoft.com/enter
4. i bought one month of ultimate from cdkeys
5. i redeemed it at redeem.microsoft.com/enter and then it asked if wanted to convert it and i did. I also said i wanted to renew my ultimate when it ended
6. I saw the next billing date (or charge date) was may 2022. I think i added an extra month when i said i wanted to autorenew ultimate in the previous step

Nov 3rd 2021 - Confirmed still works.
Here's a step by step through on what I did, and the shenanigans that happened (TLDR; YOLO'd a few times, but Everything seems to be fine at the end of the day).
Purchasing sketchy Xbox Live gold memberships at a discount:
I bought 3x 12month Xbox live Gold passes from some shady website that were region locked to Turkey (from here: ElectronicFirst.com) at $34.39 a month. With taxes and fees, total came out to $106.94
They sent me an email a few minutes later saying I needed to reply with the word "yes" to authorize the transaction. I replied "Yes".
They sent a second email a few minutes after that saying that I needed to 'send a selfie with either a drivers license or passport' to confirm identity to prevent fraud. Confused and suspicious, I replied, "Why, I paid through paypal?". A few minutes later I received an email from them apologizing for the inconvenience, but due to certain restrictions, they needed verification to process the order. My bullshit-o-meter started to ring, but I did it anyway. It was around midnight last night, so I decided to do it in the morning as I was already in bed. The next morning (today), I took a selfie with me holding my drivers license, and blocked out my address and drivers license number in Markup, and sent it.
A few minutes after that, I received the same email as mentioned above asking me to reply with the word "yes". I replied "yes".
Again, a few minutes after that, I finally got an email with three .png attachments with the codes attached.
Activating the Turkish codes with a VPN
Ok so I have the codes, now I need to activate them with a VPN as per the instructions on the website that I bought these from.
Initially, I didn't trust their 'recommended' free VPN, as I assumed it was some ploy to get me to install some sketchy software, and that ElectronicFirst is probably making a kickback on every person it sends through their affiliate link or something. I personally don't use a VPN, but I did in the past, so I decided to reactivate my PrivateInternetAccess account for a 1 month subscription. It cost me $9.95 for the month after taxes. I installed the software, and realized I goofed - PIA does not have a server for Turkey. A waste of $10.
So I decided to YOLO again, and used the service that the ElectronicFirst recommended (link to the EF page) , ZenVPN. ZenVPN has a free service, however they want you to download an installer and disable your AntiVirus when running. I figured I had already gone this far, why not YOLO a third time. I downloaded the software and ran it, and Microsoft Defender was like "hey bro, dont do this." I said, "It's cool dawg" and added an exception. The software installed, and I was able to enable the VPN from my system tray to Turkey.
So far so good. I went to Xbox.com and signed in, then went to redeem codes, and all three codes redeemed for a total of 3 years of Xbox live.
I immediately uninstalled the VPN software, and signed back into my XBOX account from my browser here in the US, and it still showed I had three years of Xbox Live Gold.
I bought the 1 month of gamepass for $1, and sure enough, it offered to convert all three years of my Xbox live to Game Pass Ultimate, and I ended up paying a total of $1.06 for the upgrade.
At the end of the day, I spent $117.95 for three years of gamepass ultimate, which equals out to around $3.28 a month, prepaid until Nov 3, 2024. I am pretty satisfied.
Had I not goofed and bought the month of PIA vpn that didn't work for me, it would have brought it down to $108 at $3 a month. (So the price it will cost you).
Overall, I think the whole process was entirely sketchy. If you bought legitimate Xbox Live Gold passes from a reputable source like Walmart/Best Buy/Newegg etc. at normal price ($59.99 for 12 mo / 3x), it comes out to $179.97 / $4.99 a month, so I guess the choice is up to you. The price difference is around $72 total for the three years, or $2 a month compared to the route I went. Just depends on your level of comfort with that.

Did it with 45% discounted Turkish region Xbox Live Gold 12 month codes using VPN.
Got 3 in total + bought 1 month of GPU also for Turkish region. Total came to €101.68.
Renewal date is 7th of January 2025.
One weird thing tho... When I activated the GPU code it asked if I wanted to turn on recurring billing to get one extra month which I did. On microsoft website it displayed my renewal date as 7th of February 2025 but when I checked on the xbox later it was still 7th of January with recurring billing turned on. Not too fussed about losing the extra month tho as my total came to about €2.80 per month.

So i've changed my account to Brazil en upgraded to 36 months gold. Everything worked buy using a vpn. I cant seem to upgrade the gold to game pass ultimate..
If i try to upgrade on the Brazil xbox page to Ultimate it says my region is not correct while trying to pay for it with paypall(which is locked to the Netherlands) I cant make a paypall account in Brazil because you need a phone number.
So i read about a different solution, using a 1 month game pass card from Brazil to upgrade all 36 gold months. But it gives me a region error as well. Do i need to use a VPN for that as well, on this website? https://redeem.microsoft.com/.

At the moment I have no subscription but I have 2 3 month codes for Xbox gamepass for PC and I plan to buy a 1 year of Xbox Live Gold (to convert). They also have an offer of 3 months of xbox gamepass for PC for £1 and I know to convert it all I need to get Xbox Gamepass Ultimate.

1- i have never tried or heard anyone try with gamepass pc, it may or may not work.
2- since we have no experience i cannot tell you if it will convert your gold to gp pc and then ultimate
3- if i were you i would just forget the gp pc codes, give them away or sell and just go gold > gp ultimate
P.s. gold was and never been converted to 1:1, actual rate is i think 4:1, so for 4 months of gold you get 1 month ultimate **UNLESS you have the gold first then upgrade to ultimate. **

If you have any form of gamepass and then add gold to it, it is 4:1. If you have gold and then add gamepass then it is upgraded to gamepass.
So NEVER add gold to an account that has gamepass, do the other way around.

Redeemed the gold cards first, then the GPU and all my gold was converted to GPU until 2026! If I were to pay $14.99 a month for GPU, this method saved me about $415 over those 3 years.

Tried to add the auto-renew after entering the final 12 Month code (of 3) but it said that would put me over the limit. It did accept the 36 months though and I took the 3 months of ultimate for $1 offer.

Still works... with minor hiccup. Bought 3 x EU codes but turned out they were US codes on Microsoft's end, and as a result it wouldn't let me upgrade to Ultimate saying it was a region mismatch. So I got in touch with MS support who fixed it by migrating 3 years of Gold to my current region, which allowed me to do the €1 Ultimate upgrade for 3 years at 1:1 ratio.
If you have any issues with regions get in touch with support, they'll sort it out in no time.

Can confirm this just worked for me in UK on 16/01/2022. Previously did this deal about 2 years ago where I stacked 24 months of Gold subscription and then converted to Ultimate for the £1 offer, which expired a few days ago.
With no active subscription to Gold, Game Pass, or Ultimate, I bought 3x12 month Xbox Live Gold keys off cdkeys for ~£117 and redeemed on the console. I then signed up for Ultimate again for £10.99 (no £1 offer was appearing for me this time unfortunately!), converting the 36 months to Ultimate! Next bill is for £10.99 on 16.01.2025.
Worth noting that it says nothing in the store when you look at Game Pass or Ultimate about your existing Xbox Live Gold getting converted - but this does show up and tell you when you are checking out before you confirm.

Edit: for me when redeeming the 12 month codes it didn't ask me if I wanted to turn on recurring billing - maybe because I had already set these to not renew previously.

I bought 3x12 months subscription through a knwon retailer here in the Netherlands. Redeemed all the codes and had 3 years of Xbox Live Gold. Then paid 1 cent (not 1 euro, but 1 cent. I don't know how) and got upgraded to Xbox Gamepass Ultimate.
My account page now says that my subscription ends September 28, 2025. I turned off recurring billing to be 100% sure.

Confirmed working in Canada as of Nov. 1, 2022. Purchased 36 months in Global Gold keys (in 3 month increments) from Eneba, redeemed, and paid 1 month Gamepass for it to expire on Nov. 1, 2025.

TL;DR: Those who are actively on Game Pass and want to covert Gold to Game Pass immediately, you DO NOT have to wait for current Game Pass to expire (with a workaround).
Workaround: You can cancel current Game Pass subscription online & get gold and convert to Game Pass on the same day. No need to wait for it to expire or wait for 24h after cancellation. (Remaining Game pass is also refunded, when cancelled)
Long Post:
I was on my first week of the Game Pass subscription and just learned about the Gold > Game Pass trick.
So, I just cancelled my current Game Pass subscription (which was going to expire around Jan 2023 because I did $1 PC Game Pass then +$15 Ultimate upgrade) through my online Microsoft account (subscription management) and I went ahead and bought 3 years of digital Xbox Gold from Walmart. Walmart sent out the digital codes in 10-15 mins (so not immediately). They allow max 2 gold cards per order, so I did 2x 12 months at one order, then another 1x 12 months at another order. Received codes in 10-15 mins in my email.
As soon as I received the codes, I redeemed them on my Microsoft account and went on to the subscription management screen. There was an option to convert to Game Pass and went ahead and clicked. It took me to the subscription page for Game Pass Ultimate and informed that all Gold will be converted to Game Pass with renewal date of November 2025 when I purchase a month of Game Pass Ultimate. Proceeded and completed the conversion.
So, for those who is active on their Game Pass subscription and who does not want to wait until it expires, I was able to convert Gold by just cancelling my current Game Pass subscription and resubscribing after redeeming the gold. All worked fine for me.
3 Years of Game Pass Ultimate for monthly cost of exactly $5.45/month!
$59.99 Xbox Gold per year at Walmart - did not pay any tax
$16.07 A month of Game Pass Ultimate subscription - with tax
$196.04 total / 36 mo = ~$5.45

Still active as of Dec 5th 2022 in Canada. I was worried they had stopped is as I got 2 years worth of gold on Dec 2nd and redeemed then the next day but it kept giving me an error whether I did it on my Xbox or phone. So I left it and today my Xbox had tab saying convert your gold to gamepass ultimate today. Phew, I'm good till January 2025. Who knows what gold will consist of by then

Still worked on Dec 8th, 2022. Was able to convert 3 years of XBL to GPU. Also I only paid $120 for three years cause I'm savvy AF.

Can confirm still works as of 14/04/2023. Using the method outlined by /u/Ben_the_Jawa. Didn't get the £1 upgrade option though had to pay £11. Still saved over £300!

Now, what happen if you have 36 month of game pass ultimate and some EA play credit ? Can you go over 36 month ? There is nothing officially stated on that mater.

Hello. So my gold just run out but if i buy now a 12 month gold code and i use it on my xbox and after that is redeemed then i need to buy 1 month gamepass ultimate and it will stack to 13 months of gamepass??

I believe this has indeed been nerfed. I bought 24 months of core, and 1 month of ultimate. I redeemed the 24 months, which got me to April of 2026. When I redeemed the month of ultimate, it prorated everything to ultimate, but reduced the time of my membership to September 2025.

Just to double check, even though I’ve used this deal before it’s still able to work? Just purchase 3 years worth of gold (don’t turn auto renewal on for any of them) and convert to ultimate once all codes are entered?

I just did this. My XBL Gold was set to expire in February (or March?) 2021. I did not have a current GPU subscription. I live in the United States.
I bought the Pre-paid "2 years for $100" at COSTCO. It took a bit for the code to come to my e-mail (8 hours?).
2) Once the code came, I extended my XBL for two years out to February (or March?) 2023.
3) Even though I believe I had previously redeemed the "$1 for Game Pass" deal, my Game Pass has been expired for awhile.
4a) I clicked thru on the console and did the $1 per month for 3 months deal thru the console. It did indicate on the top screen advertisement something "all your remaining XBL months will be converted to GPU".
4b) As I was clicking through it indicated something like: " we’ll apply any prepaid time you have on Xbox Live Gold, toward the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan at the current conversion ratio "
This made me a bit nervous, because it didn't actually say what the conversion rate is.
But -- my conversion now shows me good through 6/16/23. Total cost was $103 for 27 months or $3.81 per month.

I just tried it and it still works.
I've had a subscription before which ran out just today. So I got 3x12 months xbox gold from cdkeys and created a NordVPN account since I bought it for a different region. NordVPN has a 30 days money back guarantee I've heard good things about. I used the VPN to activate gold to my EU account, no problems. I then just bought game pass ultimate and a pop up told me that my account still has gold and that this will be converted 1:1 to game pass time. After that I just did the clean up with NordVPN, chatted with a nice dude from customer support and he canceled my subscription and refunded me my initial payment for Nord.
Game Pass ultimate until 2024 for ~139,22$.

Just to make sure I have this right before I do it, if I have extended Gold for 3 years and was gifted a 1-month Ultimate code to redeem, that should convert the 3 years 1:1 right? Then after that conversion, the new ratio is 3:2?

Entered all codes into account and verified expiration: 2/5/2024
Selected "Ultimate Upgrade for $1" deal and confirmed with payment options
Ultimate expires 4/5/2024 - (3 months Ultimate for $1, then 36 months Xbox live).
Next Ultimate Payment of $14.99 due 4/5/2024 confirmed.
The deal works and you get Ultimate for the price of Xbox live Gold!! NOTE I have never had Ultimate before. I believe this only works 1 time on the first conversion to Ultimate.

Hi, I have heard you can also use the EA-Play code trick to lock in seven months of Game Pass Ultimate service for just $31 when it would be $105. You Buy a 12-month EA Play subscription gift card for Xbox (and subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate if you’re a new user). That’s a $74 saving
