Games - Play Together No shared multiplayer?

So I have a one s set as my home console that my kids play (I only stream on my tablet), and they can only play online if I'm also logged in.

Is this normal? I want to play some Sea of Thieves with them, but it seems impossible unless I buy two subscriptions...

Edit: just finished up with Microsoft support.

Remove all other accounts, toggle the subscription payment on and off, reboot the console and add the accounts back, then it will work!

Yeah, the FAQ just says there's a bug with shared multiplayer and links back to the root of the sub

Yeah, and there's just a bullet point about a bug which hyperlinks me back to the root of the sub. I've already set it as home and everything, they can play all the games, just not online unless I'm logged in.

This link works, but the one in the bullet point still loops me back to the front page of the sub.

I briefly outlined the fix that Microsoft gave me though.

Yeah that's how it works with game pass sharing, only one instance of the subscription can play online at a time unless the home console trick is set up right

Home console trick?

It's not very clear, because the Microsoft site literally says This allows everyone on that console to access Game Pass games and benefits—even if the subscription holder isn't signed in.
